If this were true that would mean a little less than half of the U.S. population was wiped out in 2008 and no one noticed. first when your in a car accident never admit it was your fault...you will definitely have to pay for it then. if your underage and no permit you will most likely have a set back in getting your license and your parents may have to pay compensation

If neither party was:

- speeding (excessive speed for the conditions can be way below the speed limit)

- following too close

- breaking any laws

Then in shared fault states everyone pays their own damages. If you don't have collision insurance you are usually out of luck.
