Do you need insurance to license your car?
Can you give more detail? Are you asking if you need insurance to "register" your vehicle?
Most likely you will. You need to notify your insurance company of the move immediately so that they can change the garaging address. Ask your agent about whether or not your company even does business in your new state. If you are an adult, you need your own insurance in your name. You vehicles should also be in your name. Whether or not your company does business in the new state or not, you need to get with an independent agent in the new state to check rates. One company may be competitive in one state but not in another.
How much can car insurance be?
If you are referring to premium, it depends upon many factors. Included are the insurer, the amount of coverage, the type of coverage, characteristics of the vehicle, characteristics and driving history of the insured, who else will be driving the car, how much the car will be driven, and other factors. Insurance rates, from which premiums are derived, are regulated by the insurance regulator of the state in which the policy will be issued, so that is another factor. Therefore, there is no definitive answer to your question as phrased.
How do you protect assets from auto insurance claims?
Firstly, you need to purchase an adequate amount of liability coverage for your situation. You have a choice of liability limits that you want when purchasing auto insurance. You can also purchase an umbrella or excess liability policy that will give you coverage over an above your auto, home, boat, etc policies and increase limits of all to 1, 2, 5 million dollars, also your choice. These umbrella policies are very inexpensive but require that you carry higher limits of liability on your base policies like your auto and home. Get with a good independent agent in your area that deals with many different insurance companies and they can shop rates and coverages for you based on what you want.
Does Geico offer short distance car insurance?
It depends on what you mean by short distance? If you mean how far you drive back and forth to work, yes. Most companies rate driving by how far you drive to work or school one way and have it in catagories. Also they may consider miles per year driven.
If you mean do they offer coverage for a short term like just to drive it home from somewhere, no. Policies are written in terms of six months or a year and only this based on whatever the company offers. Few offer both types but some do. You can purchase a policy, pay the minimum, then cancel the coverage when you don't need it any more.
You are insured as a second driver if you have an accident will you be covered?
As long as you are listed as a driver on the policy and an accident occurs in a covered vehicle, then yes you will be covered under the terms and conditions of the policy just as any other driver on the policy.
What is Auto Beneficiary Insurance?
I've never heard of this in my 30 years in the insurance business. It doesn't sound like a real insurance product.
If you die and your car is in your name can someone else take control of it?
Not until the estate has gone through Probate. If an Executor or Administrator has been assigned by will or by Court then they have responsibility to secure property belonging to the estate until it is settled. If a loss occurs, they could be personally liable to the heirs of the estate.
What. Why would you think this is required? An insurance company will not find you a new vehicle is your is totaled, they will pay you the actual cash value of the vehicle you had.
Will an insurance carrier cover a car that was stolen with the key's locked in the car?
A stolen vehicle is just that, a stolen vehicle. Were the keys accidentally locked in the car? Had a locksmith been called to unlock the vehicle and get the keys back to the reg. owner? There will be many questions that would require an answer for the claims adjuster investigating the claim. Was this a regular habit of the insured to leave the keys locked in the vehicle? Were they locked in the car so that another individual having a remote to unlock the vehicle and use the car at their discretion implied? Was a police report filed in a timely manner of the theft?
If the keys were habitually locked inside the vehicle, it would obviously, not be a reasonable or prudent thing to do. However, if the keys were left in the vehicle by accident, and someone broke-in, and there is evidence of this break-in when or if the vehicle is recovered it will obviously lend credence to the insured's loss statement. Either way, the insured can still file the claim and the insurance company will still have to cover the loss, pay the insured for the market value of the vehicle less any comprehensive coverage deductible. Most likely, future claims on the policy of this particular insured will be flagged and investigated thoroughly because of this loss. Suggestion: read your auto policy coverages and exclusions, and be informed of what your policy does and does not cover. Most auto policy also designate that a police report must be filed within a certain time frame of the theft of a vehicle.
If theft occurs from an individual or relative resident of the home gaining access to the keys that are left on a counter-top or hanging on a key ring, In this case, if the vehicle is taken, it is considered "implied consent" by virtue of the keys access to residents of the household. Every auto policy has different exclusions noted for certain circumstances and existing conditions. Therefore, I again suggest all insureds read those policies and exclusions policies.
It does not matter who the tree belongs too because neither one is liable for the damage to your car.
A property owner is not liable for an act of nature and homeowners insurance does not cover automobiles.
Your comprehensive auto insurance will cover your vehicle for damage from an act of nature.

Can you get car insurance in Georgia on a car that is not in your name?
No. You cannot insure a vehicle that you do not own. The only exception to this is in a family situation where a married couple has one vehicle in one name and the other vehicle in the other name. I always recommend that the insurance be listed in both names to prevent any problems and to allow both parties to make changes and sign documents. The fact is that you cannot insure something that you don't own because if the property is damaged you have no financial loss so the company cannot pay you and since they don't have a contract with the owner of the vehicle they can't pay them either. If you buy insurance on a vehicle you don't own then you have committed material misrepresentation on the insurance application and the insurance contract is null and void. Simply don't do it.
I was in an accident that was not my fault. My car was in the shop for three month for repairs, only to find out today that the insurance wants to TOTAL the car. Which is okay with me, but they are saying that the car is worth $12,000 and that the repairs were $8000, and that they are only going to give me $4000. HOW is this possible, I did not make that decision for the car to be rapaired then to be claimed TOTAL loss.
What should I do? Please help me.
Can you finance a car but not be the insurance holder?
In terms of the lender, probably not.
If the car is financed, the buyer/owner has the contract with the creditor. The creditor requires collision and comprehensive coverage for THEIR vehicle which they finance. They do NOT have any relationship with any other person but the person named on the vehicle loan.
An insurance policy is only issued when the 'policyholder' has a financial interest in the item for which they are requesting insurance. If you apply for an auto policy to cover the newly purchased vehicle, the insurance carrier will likely deny coverage.
If you do not own the car, chances are you do not garage the car at your address of record. This is sometimes acceptable, such as when a child goes off to college, with an insured auto. However, if you simply lend your vehicle to 'John Smith' with no specified ending time/date, this is more than occasional use and the carrier would likely deny any claim arising out of an accident John Smith may have.
Additionally, the terms of an insurance policy are accepted by the buyer of the insurance, by signing and dating the policy application and likely another document upon issuance of a policy. If you have no financial interest in the insured item (a car in this case) you have no insurable interest.
Yes.
What documents do you need to purchase car insurance?
If you're just looking for a quote then there really aren't any documents you'll need. The quote will just ask some questions, such as what kind of car you drive, how much you expect the drive the vehicle, etc, which you should be able to answer easily.
As far as actually purchasing a policy the company you purchase the policy through will let you know what kind of documents they require. Usually the only time you'll need to submit any kind of special documentation would be if you're disputing some kind of activity on your driving record.
Does structure only insurance have any liability coverage?
If you purchase liability coverage on the dwelling policy then yes it will have liability coverage. If you only wanted the minimum price with no extra coverage that's what you get. Make sure you purchase the coverage you want when you talk with an agent. Dwelling coverage is used in situations when you own a home that you don't live in such as a rental property or if it does not qualify for a homeowners policy for some reason. You can add coverage for liability, contents, and many other additional coverages.
Whose name does car insurance have to be in?
The auto policy needs to be in the name of the person who owns the vehicle with few exceptions. The exceptions deal with a family situation who live in the same household. Vehicles titled to a husband or wife can be insured on a policy in the others name if they are legally married. Also children such as a 19 year old child who owns a car can have it insured on his parents policy if he still lives in the household and is listed as a driver on the policy.
Can you cancel car insurance during a divorce?
More than likely, you can't if somebody still wants to operate the vehicle. However, if one or more people are no longer operating the vehicle, the owner will need to contact the insurance company in order to get a new policy (and probably a lower rate).
The laws on auto insurance vary by state.
Most states require the owner of an automobile to carry certain minimums of insurance on each driver who operates the vehicle. Generally, if insurance is canceled, the owner must forfeit the license plates.
