Who won the 1965 Formula One World Championship?

The 1950 Formula One season included the inaugural FIA Formula One World Championship season, which commenced on May 13, 1950, and ended on September 3 after 7 races. The championship consisted of six Formula One races in Europe plus the Indianapolis 500, which was run to AAA/USAC regulations. Numerous other Formula One races, which did not count towards the Championship, were also held during the year. The inaugural World Championship, to a formula which specified engine capacity of 1.5 litres supercharged or 4.5 litres unsupercharged, saw Alfa Romeo dominate with their supercharged 158, a well-developed pre-war design, which won all six European Grands Prix. Alfa drivers consequently dominated the championship with Farina edging out Fangio by virtue of his fourth place in Belgium. Although the Indianapolis 500, which ran to different regulations, was included in the championship series until 1960, it attracted very little European participation and, conversely, very few American Indianapolis drivers entered any grand prix. Championship points were given to top 5 finishers (8, 6, 4, 3, 2). 1 point was given for the fastest lap. Only the best four of seven scores counted towards the World Championship. Points for shared drives were divided equally between the drivers, regardless of how many laps each driver drove. Nino Farina who drove for the team Alfa Romeo won the championship with 30 points

How many hours does a formula 1 race last?

Around 2 hours. Most races are designed in such a way that they last for around 2 hours or approximately 300 kms. Some tracks are longer and some are shorter. In such cases the number of laps is adjusted to ensure that the race distance is around 300 kilometres and the race does not take more than 2 hours to complete. There have been cases where races have been stopped because they exceeded the 2 hours mark and were still running due to rain/accident etc.

To give you a clue, i'd share this with you:

USF1 from USA was meant to join Formula 1 this season, but they didn't, they weren't ready, however they already spent more than US$ 25M.

Of course to maintain the team, sponsors whom your team will be advertising for pays you, like Marlboro pays Ferrari.

What is slick track racing?

There's a great misconception about tires that says tread equals traction. While it's true on wet roads and dirt, it is not true on dry, clean pavement. Rubber gives traction, not tread. The function of tread is to cut through water, dirt, etc by channeling it into the spaces between the tread blocks to allow the rubber to meet the driving surface. This is not needed on a clean, dry race track, and tread merely reduces the amount of rubber that meets the surface and thereby reduces the contact patch. Racing slicks have no tread and therefore give far greater traction by increasing the area of the tire's contact patch on clean pavement. However, in the wet they become virtually useless because the tire can no longer make contact with the racing surface; hence "rain tires" and off-road racing tires have tread.

Who invented the roll cage?

The first roll cage ever built was in 1964 by a man Called John Aley

(founder of Safety Devices roll cages) after he had a near fatal crash and wanted to improve the rigidity of his car. The first roll cage was nothing more than a few strengthening bars strategically placed to reduce the deformation of the car in case of an impact. After the FIA realised the benefits of roll cages they became mandatory in all competition cars. After further research and development was put into roll cages it was found that by placing the legs of the roll cagein certain it places it benefited the cars handling.Over the years huge research was put into the design of roll cages and the materials used after discovering the handling and suspension benefits it provided to competition vehicles. This development through the years has made roll cages very effective and had resulted in limiting the amount of deaths and made a huge reduction in the amount of serious injury's caused by crashes that may happen during a motorsport

event.

The research has also led to the use of better materials in rollcages.

The first roll cages simply used steel bars but modern day roll cages use aircraft grade steel for extreme strength but minimizing the weight of the cage.

What was the first car to reach 200 mph?

the first car to reach 200 mph was the ferrari f40 . it went 201 before other cars could reach 200

the first awnser is wrong it was the Lamborghini Diablo in 1991.

Both wrong 1st road car was the ford GT40 in 1966. The Ford gt40 made it to 217. If you want to get technical, the first answer is incorrect as well.

I would just like to add that we could also look at cars like the Mercedes C111 which hit 200mph (320 kph) in 1978. However this was not a production car because of the economic crisis at the time. We could also look at a modified, non-street-legal version of this car - the Merc C111-IV which hit 251mph (403kph) in 1979. These are all very impressive cars but hats off to the 330 P4!

- Nharzhool

-The Ferrari F40 was the first production, street legal, non-racing, factory car to reach speeds of over 200 mph. The 330 P4 was both race and street legal and was originally made for the track. The Ferrari F40 was made for the road originally. FYI, The Diablo was made in 1991, and the only reason it could go faster than the F40, was that the F40 had a big rear wing for handling and down force, causing it to slow down after about 165 mph. If the F40 and the Diablo were to race in a 1 mile drag, the F40 would be far ahead before the finish because of its far superior power to weight ratio. In my opinion, the Diablo is just an over-rated, heavy, underpowered, pile of crap that can only go 202 because of its extreme aerodynamic capabilities.

Actually, the first EVER car to hit 200 was the sunbeam 1000hp.
