The Mickey Mantle stamp is one of a set of four that featured Baseball Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle, Roy Campanella, Hank Greenberg and Mel Ott on the 39-cent "Baseball Sluggers" postage stamps. They can be purchased for $1.50 each new. If unused, they are still valid for face value as postage. To a collector they may be worth a dollar or two in mint condition. These are fairly common stamps.

Hank Aaron is still living. Given that the US does not issue stamps depicting living persons, there is no US issued stamp with Aaron on it. Some countries have issued stamps to capitalize on the sports collectors, most stamp collectors are not interested in such commercial items.

~*~Actually there IS a Hank Aaron Stamp. First day of issue was Dec. 21 1992. It was a $2 Hank Aaron, St. Vincent & the Grenadines postage stamp and then there was also a $10 23karat gold stamp released at the same time in '92 (depicting the April 16, 1964 Houston/Owens away game. I believe about 400 of those exist, only because I have one and it says "#343 of Four" hundred I assumed...or thousand? Anyways, although I don't know the value, I saw one (autographed) on eBay for $120. But that is for the golden stamp.

A "smudged" signature will sell far below the market value of a signature in excellent -near/mint condition.

The most important factor on the value of a signature providing that the signature is authentic is the condition of both the item signed, and the signature. The signature should be strong, and bold, as opposed to faded and hard to see.

Value will be determined by the condition (grade) of the signature, the sharpness, clarity, and how well the signature displays overall. Blue ballpoint pen would be most preferred over sharpie which tends to "bleed" or "smudge" on a baseball. The Ballpoint pen would render a sharp signature as opposed to a thick "sloppy" Sharpie signature.

What ever ink used, it will "smudge" if improperly handled before it is fully dry. Displaying the signature in a room with high humidity could moisten the ink and cause "smudgeing"

Once an autograph has faded or "Smudged" the best you can do is stop further damage by investing in a U/V protective display case. Try to find a Display case with 50% U/V protection. Keep it away from sun light, and chalk it up to experience. Most important never retrace a signature. I have been asked this question many times. A baseball with light or faded signatures will be worth more than one that has been traced. The signatures will be worthless. The Ideal conditions for display would be indirect lighting, at a room temperature of 65 - 70 degrees, and 50% humidity. Always check your signatures periodically for signs of fading or deterioration, and avoid excessive handling.

A Cal Ripken Jr signed baseball card is worth about $40.00 - $75.00

It doesn't' matter too much on which card was signed. In general, collectors of baseball cards would rather have a baseball card without the signature. The signature would be considered as a flaw in the condition of the card and will lower the value of the card as a collectible. If the signature has a lower value than the card it will lower the value of the card. The un-signed card will have a higher value.

According to the collector's price guide, "Team Baseballs," your ball is worth between $225-300, with value being greater or lower depending on exact players present - in particular, the inclusion or exclusion of Hall of Famers of Lou Brock and Bob Gibson - plus the all-important overall condition of the ball and autographs. Other key factors include type of ball (is it an "Official National League" ball?), whether there are any "clubhouse signatures" (autographs signed for players by ballboys, attendants, etc), and total number of signatures present. These factors, plus the authenticity of the all the significant signatures are the main variables in determining value. With autographs, a picture is truly worth the proverbial thousand words, and can save alotta time in the authentication, appraisal, and selling process.
