They don't. They only hug on the 'Southern Raiders' episode. But in 'The Ember Island Players', the actors portray that Zuko and Katara had something in a cave, but that doesn't happen in real life. (both in Book 3)

Due to the vagueness of the question, it will be difficult to explain, but I will do my best. Basically, an earth bender is somebody who can bend "earth", meaning simply that they can manipulate most solid objects. This comes from an old Greek belief that everything falls into one of four categories; earth, fire, water, or air. Therefore, anything that is not fire (lava, flames, smoke,etc.), water (basically every kind of liquid, even swamp and blood.), or air (simply wind in its billions of different uses), is earth. So things like rocks, metal, dirt, etc, are the things that an earthbender can control. An earthbend can lift it, throw it, shape it, carve it, crack it, cause it to explode, whatever they desire. I hope that answers your question. That is what an earthbender is.

If you want to know how to air bend like in the television show "Avatar: The Last Airbender", then you can't. It is impossible to control air just by using your body to make it do whatever you want.

The Avatar State is a defense mechanism , a lot of people have gone into it on accident , but to go into it and control it on purpose , you have to open all 7 chucras to go into it. First , you have to forgive yourself for anything your ashamed of , then you think of what your most afraid of , next , think of what or who you love most in life , and let it or her/him go , doing this will build your cosmic energy , if done correctly , your will glow and you will have complete awareness of what you do. very strong people don't need to do all 7 chucras. right at the moment they are debating whether or not they will make a spin off series I know for sure that a live action movie on book 1 is comming out summer 2010 then in 2014 the last on book 3 fire comes out and somewhere in between earth so from what i hear there will not be a book 4 air
