Yes. Aang defeated the Firelord in a huge battle on the day of Sozin's Comet. It took place in the finale which aired in July 2008. It was a four part finale and the battle was You should really look it up and watch it.

Yes, actually he does because he looks at her with loving faces. If you watch "Avatar Extras" the first episode "The boy in the iceburg" when ang wakes up in Katara's arms it says "Love at First Sight." Plus Aang kissed her first in "Day of Black Sun, Part 1, The Invasion." Throughout the series he was seen to have a major interest in Katara. In "The Fortuneteller" Meng was upset because her crush, Aang didn't have feelings for her, instead for the "beautiful Water Tribe girl."

Do you mean the Airbender in the opening voice-over (for lack of a better word)? The Airbender is Aang.

As a side note, the Waterbender is Master Pakku, the Earthbender is The Boulder, and the Firebender is Princess Azula.

i think at first he is a commander. he challenges Zuko to an Ag Ni Kai in the southern air temple episode. he became admiral in The Blue Spirit and captured Aang but Zuko helped him escape. he was taught by master Jhon Jhon (i cant spell his name). he tried to kill Zuko and tried to launch an attack on the Northern Water Tribe. he got killed by Avatar Aang when he was in the Avatar State. so he was only in the first series

This ^ is wrong. It clearly says on one of the episodes in one of the little info bubbles, that one of the deleted episodes was one of Aang's parents. He has parents, as does everyone, we just don't know them.

It's never said within the series, but my guess is his mother was in one of the Eastern or Western Air Temples (before she died, obviously) - as they were the temples that housed female benders.

I imagine his father was also from the Southern Temple, like Aang, but that's just a guess. Either way, Aang appeared to have little to no contact with either of his parents.

I think that the air nomads must meet up and have some sort of 'mating season' of some description, and I think after children are born they are taken immediately and assigned an elder guardian.

Well, you see, people learned waterbending from the moon and the tides of the sea. Earthbenders learned from badger-moles, which appear in the series, in Book Two: Earth. Firebenders learned from dragons, like Iroh, Aang, and Zuko. Airbenders learned from the air bison (also known as wind buffalo) like Appa. Assuming Appa is not the last air bison, the next Avatar will have to study airbending from Appa or another air bison (even though Appa is the last air bison, who knows?) Also, rumour has it that airbenders did not die out and that they learned to 'become' wind. So they may well return. But that is just a rumour...

There have been many theories as to what would happen after Aang is gone. At the end of the series Aang learned how to bend the 'energy' inside people. And like Iroh who learned a technique by studying waterbenders, I'm pretty sure that Aang can still teach airbending. And if at all possible, bend their energy to create a new generation of airbenders. I don't think we've seen the last of them.

Aang can write a scroll and the next Avatar can learn from it. And if his kids are airbenders, he can teach them, who can then have airbender kids of their own and teach them. And so on.

Here's my theory:

In the end, we all saw that Aang kissed Katara. There's a high probability that Aang will marry Katara and have airbender kids, since its rare for Southern Water Tribe to have waterbender. Aang's kids will learn how to bend air and the Cycle continues. Aang's kids will get married, get children, and pass on the airbending skill. The future airbenders nomads will repopulate and teach the Avatar airbending.

Right, well, the above is true, but no-one said that the next Avatar could come from JUST the Southern Water Tribe. Since the Avatar Cycle goes air, water, earth, fire that means the next Avatar will be born within one of the Water Tribes. It may be Aang's child, who knows? One way or another, I don't think on any level that he is the last ever airbender. We have not seen the last of them, so let's just leave it there, shall we?

If you're talking about the actual Avatar from the Avatar Program, that would be Dr. Grace Augustine's (Sigourney Weaver) avatar. If you're talking about the female Na'vi, that would be Neytiri of the Omaticaya clan

Avatar the last Airbender will not continue, however there is a second avatar coming out in 2011, called 'the legend of Korra' which unfortunately does not include any of the characters from the previous, except for Aang who appears in the spirit world. Katara and Aangs son is also included.
