No! In the past young dancers (8-10) would audition for the Vagonava Academy Russian of Ballet wearing a pair of underwear shorts or a leotard so that the teachers could see their musculature, but never did they audition naked.

To the best of my knowledge the answer is yes. My daughter's ballet teacher had a meeting with all the mothers and told us that she wanted all the girls to be fully shaved. She explained that she didn't want any panty lines showing. She also didn't want any hair showing under their light colored tights. She also said shaving was a time honored practice for ballet dancers. All the mothers understood the reasons and had no problem with the recommendation. My daughter said all her friends wanted wanted to shave whether they were dancers or not.

Also, it costs more on average to buy all the equipment and pay the classes than other art forms, especially when you get onto pointe. Ballet requires performance, stamina, flexibility, determination and technical skill and flair. You are required to master different end of the spectrum and you need to be able to know and use your whole body to help you.

In a pointe shoe there is the hard part at the end of the shoes wear the dancer puts most of her weight on and dancers on called the block. Around the block there is also a hard part but not as hard as the block. This hard part gives the dancer support around the toes this is called the toe box.

i can rcommend the grishko 2007 pointe shoes. they work very well for all kinds of feet.

Well actually ballet shoes don't have a left and right when you put them on see which one feels better on each foot after a while when u stand in first position your feet will start to roll and then you will know that its time to switch them.

An ensemble in dance is just like it means in music. It's a group of people dancing with one another.

Classical and contemporary ballet bear a resemblance to each other but there are many big differences. Contemporary ballet is usually much faster, and doesn't really tell a story it is usually abstract. There is also much more freedom in contemporary ballet, choreographers can try new and different steps, it also is not as focused on turnout and high extensions, and is alot lower to the ground then classical ballet which is all about turnout high extensions and is very lifted up.

Pre pointe shoes are toe shoes with a soft shank. u may go up on these shoes but not enough for full support.

This song was written by Buddy G. DeSylva, Lew Brown, and Ray Henderson in 1931.

I am not sure which version is the one used in the film, but I'm thinking it could be the one by Rudy Vallee (1931), or the New Cumberland Orchestra, but it could possibly be another I don't know of (I'm not sure). There is another 1931 version by Leslie "Hutch" Hutchinson (no brass, and slightly slower) but personally, I think that the Rudy Vallee is the best version (the other one I mentioned is good too but the audio on itunes sounds bad).

I'm sure you've heard this one, I like it but because I've heard it SO MANY times through out my life (and I usually prefer the "gloomy" nocturnes), I don't really bother listening to it on my own even though I have it so I don't know which is the exact piece used in the movie, but check out the suite if you like it.
