That's absolutely wrong. Softballs are bigger than the bat is so you have to get just the right angle on it when you hit it to get a solid hit. Baseballs however are smaller than the bat so when you hit it you have a 70% chance it will hit the ball at a good angle. Also baseballs are thrown down, but softballs are thrown level. it is a proven fact that it is easier to lower your bat than it is to raise it. As for the speed difference, baseball pitchers are 66.6 ft away (correct me if I'm wrong) softball pitchers are only 45 ft away. it has been tested that a 60 mph pitch in softball is equivalent to a 90mph pitch in baseball. so therefore hitting a softball is much harder.

Well first of all, it'll be good to have a good hand/eye cordination so you can hit the ball. Second, it'll be good to be a fast runner. You probably would work out some to be able to hit the ball far so you can cover more bases. If you can't do much of this, it's OK 'cause not everbody is good at sports. it really depends on your governing body in usssa slowpitch you can use up to 31 ounces legally some people get by and use heavier bat but unless you are built like a gorilla a heavier bat is going to have a negative effect on your bat speed. You ideally want a medium, middle of the road bat weight of 26 to 28 ounces so you can get a quick bat onto the ball

Shortstops have one main duty, fielding balls hit to their position. When a fly ball is hit to them(either a line drive or pop-up) the player has to catch it, making sure that they don't collide with other fielders trying to make the same play. When a ground ball is hit to them, a shortstop has to throw to a base to get a runner out. Shortstops also cover second base for double plays when the ball is hit to the second baseman. Finally, they(or the second baseman) cover second base on a steal or pick off attempt.
