This is a bit of a subjective question that will vary by personal preference but I will do my best to take my own feelings out of my answer.

1) Football, be it college or NFL many Americans worship at the alter of the pigskin first and foremost.

2) Basketball, March Madness is a billion dollar industry and the NBA is at an almost all-time high popularity with the bevy of stars in today's game.

3) Baseball, it's called America's Game for a reason.

4) Hockey, with the emergence of stars such as Ovechkin, Crosby, and Ryan Miller after his exhilarating Olympic performance has people becoming interested again in the first major sport to cancel a season.

Under normal circumstances, there are no ties in baseball. if the score is tied after a full 9 innings, then the game will continue until a team scores a run and that inning is completed. innings beyond the 9th inning are known as "extra innings" (there is no term "overtime" in baseball). if it's the visting team that scores, then the home team will get one last at bat to try and tie or win the game. if it's the home team that scores, then the game is automatically over, the home team is the winner and it's known as a "walk off". the only games that can end in a tie are pre-season games, in 2002 the all-star game ended in a tie in the 11th inning (due to the commissioner of baseball declaring a tie after all the pitchers had been used).

A lacrosse ball is very different from a baseball. It is heavier and more bouncy. A baseball is light and stings when you get hit, a lacrosse ball is more of a thud since it is heavier. A lacrosse ball is not harder than a baseball, but it does hurt more when you get hit by one.
