Who hit the most home runs as a New York Yankee in one season?
Here's a vote for Babe Ruth's called shot during Game 3 of the 1932 World Series. It is arguably the most famous home run in baseball history. It also may not have happened the way we've been told it did.
What we know is that Ruth's New York Yankees won Games 1 and 2 at Yankee Stadium. On October 1, 1932, Game 3 was played at Wrigley Field, home of the National League champion Chicago Cubs. Ruth was furious with the Cubs because they had denied a full World Series share to infielder Mark Koenig, Ruth's onetime Yankees teammate. As a result, Ruth and the Cubs engaged in verbal warfare throughout the Series.
Ruth hit a three-run homer off Chicago starter Charlie Root in the first inning, giving the Yankees an early 3-0 lead. When he returned to the plate in the fifth, the game was tied 4-4. At that point, players on the Cubs' bench directed more verbal abuse toward the Yankees slugger.
Ruth did not swing at the first four pitches from Root, which resulted in a 2-2 count. This is when he allegedly showed disdain for the Cubs by pointing at the center field bleachers. In dramatic fashion, he hit the next pitch into the center field stands, and proceeded to jeer at the Cubs as he rounded the bases. It was Ruth's last hit in World Series competition.
The Yankees went on to win the game 7-5. The next day, they won Game 4 to sweep the Cubs.

What is the score of a forfeited baseball game?
9-0 is the official score for any forfeited major league game, regardless of the length of the contest held thus far. There have been 8 forfeited games since 1901, the most infamous being the last game played by the Washington Senators - fans stormed the field in the top of the ninth inning with two outs. The Senators were leading 7-5, but as a result of the umpires forcing them to forfeit, the official score for the record book was 9-0 Yankees.
The official score of any baseball game is one point per regulation inning for the non forfeiting team and zero for the forfeiting team. In MLB that results in 9-0, in high school (7 innings) the official score would be 7-0.
Chris Webber of the Sacramento Kings and Alondo Tucker of the Phoenix Suns are 2 of many, many players who wore #4.

What year was the first official World Series of Baseball held?
THE First World Series was in 1903, (Boston vs. Pittsburgh) along with the first test flight and Henry Ford founded Ford Motor Co. all in 1903.
One needs to remember that there were other major leagues before the American League formed in 1901.The majors played a series after the end of the regular season between the National League champion and the champion of the American Association that was called the world series. This took place in the 1880's and was designed more for the profit of the owners rather than determining a true national champion. Depending on the year played, the series' varied in length up to 15 games. It should be noted that after the demise of the American Ass. in 1893, a postseason series was played for several years between the first and second place teams in the sole surving National League. It was called the Temple Cup Series and the winner was considered the to be the league champion. So it seems that the idea of a "wild card team" is not counter to baseball tradition as it has been used in the past.
First World Series in 1903Baseball's first modern World Series was in 1903. The American League's Boston Red Sox upset the New York Giants 5 games to 3, in a best of 9 series. The first baseball series called the World Series took place in 1882, with the American Association champion playing the National League champion. But those were considered exhibition games, and are not generally recognized as part of the World Series history.
1887 - World championship Series
Spalding guide of America in 1887 named it "Worlds championship Series" (later shortened to world series 1903) in the hope that other nations such as "Australia and Great Britain" would soon play and "become rivals"...none have. Also, as it was American league and national league meeting, then a bigger name was used..world....as regards America hoping Australia then Great Britain would play it, source states... "This didn't happen, but the name "World's Championship Series" stuck..
http://roadsidephotos.com/baseball/name.htm
**I shall elaborate on the point why. People ask with Spalding guide naming it World championship Series attempting to entice other countries to play it of which it states Australia and Great Britain... why they don't play it, a major reason for this is the British invented Baseball aka Rounders for children and its historically been for them, whom it was intended...
http://www.nra-rounders.co.UK/dyncat.cfm?catid=17177
.....so while you don't see adults from UK playing it, its VERY popular among kids up to 5th grade..notably girls who have formalised competitions nationwide. That's an elaborate but it basically covers all the bases (pardon the pun)
The first world deries was in 1876
