How do you compare softball pitching speed to baseball pitching sped?
Speed is based on distance traveled in a given amount of time. Baseball uses a distance of 60 feet 6 inches from the pitching rubber to home where as softball is 43 feet. A ball that would cover 43 feet in 1/2 a second is traveling just over 58 mph while a ball covering 60 feet 6 inches in the same time is traveling 82.5 mph. You need to know 2 of the following 3 ; distance, speed, or time. If you know distance and time then the formula is speed=distance/time.
If you know the speed and distance then use time=distance/speed, get that number then use previous formula and change distance to get comparison.
Which is better the easton sv12 or demarini cf4?
The SV12. I just got mine from Dicks Sporting Goods for 200 dollars and used it in my game tonight and hit a homerun. For me Demarini's dont have a very good trampoline effect and they are too expensive but the SV12 was great and you could really feel the ball being pushed by the bat.
Hope this helps

How fast did tom seaver pitch?
Yes. I watched the ABC Monday Night Baseball telecast of July 4th, 1977, and, in making one of his first starts for the Reds since coming in a trade from the Mets, Seaver threw a pitch to Atlanta's Biff Pocoroba that, according to announcer Bob Uecker, the JUGS gun timed at 101 mph. Pocoroba lined it for a double. Other pitchers working in the majors that year who reached 100 mph would have been Nolan Ryan, Rich Gossage, J.R. Richard, Jim Kern, John D'Acquisto, Terry Forster, and perhaps Bart Johnson, Jim Palmer, and Len Barker among others.

Does ERA change if you play 7 innings?
ERA stands for Earned Run Average. The number of innings per game determines how ERA is calcuated. In Major League Baseball they play 9 innings so ERA is calculated with this equation, Earned Runs divided by 9. High School baseball (at least where I am located) plays 7 innings as a regulation length game. In this case a pitcher's ERA is Earned Runs divided by 7. In Little League the a regulation game is 6 innings, so ERA would be determined by Earned Runs divided by 6. If you are playing a game and it goes in to extra innings then a pitcher's ERA is not affected by the extra innings. If a regulation game is 6 innings, and the game goes into the seventh inning, then a pitcher's ERA is still determined by # of earned runs divided by 6. In summary ERA is ALWAYS determined by the amount of Earned Runs allowed divided by the number of innings played (not including extra innings).

Can you slide into first base in men's slow pitch softball?
You can slide into 1st base. Generally, it is not recommended. There are two scenarios where you may want to slide into first. 1) You have hit the ball and are running toward first. The first baseman is positioning to receive the throw. You can see that the throw is offline and the defender may try to tag you instead of touching the base, or the throw has put the defender in your basepath. You slide to avoid a tag or the defender. 2) You have a base hit and have rounded the bag. A throw is coming toward 1st base and you need to return. You may want to slide back to the bag to avoid the tag while off the base.
