This is when a bat makes a high pitched sound, too high for human to hear. The sound waves travel until the bump into an object such as a insect of tree. The sound waves return back to the bat and it calculates how far away it is from the object. Dolphin use this tactic too.

Plus, "honking" in some species may be used to help prevent midair collisions between foraging adults. When killing flies with a swatter, I always aim about 2" in the direction they are facing, because when they takeoff, they have to go forwards. Get'm most every time! Try it, it works.

What do bats do to find their home?
Through the chimney is one usual way, overhangs on your roof that have a hole in them, ridge vents on your house with even a small hole, basically anywhere that you have a hole leading to your attic or interior of your house. Since they have no true bones in their bodies they are extremely flexible and can get in almost any small opening. hope this helped you. They usually live in dark places!!!
Are bats consumers producers or scavengers?
It depends on the type of bat. For example, a vampire bat, which sucks blood from other animals, is obviously not a scavenger. But fruit bats are scavengers because they scavenge for fruit.

Flying foxes are fruit-oriented bats, and because of this, they use sight and smell to locate food rather than echolocation like their smaller relatives.

Where do Flying fox bats live?
