You sometimes see 'Berne', but that is the French spelling, Bern is in German-speaking Switzerland.
The Cantons around the Canton of Bern are Solothurn and Jura to the North; Argaau, Uri, Nidwalden, Obwalden and Lucerne to the East; Valais to the South and Neuchatel, Fribourg and Vaud to the West.
