Bichon Frises

Bichon Frises are small, white dogs that were bred to be companion or lap dogs. Their fur is hypo-allergenic and they do not shed which makes them an excellent breed for those who are allergic to dogs but want a dog. All questions about Bichon Frises can be directed here.

Do you Bichon Frise shed their hair?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I own a Bishon Frise and they don't shed. I still will brush her at night when watching TV or out on the patio. I use Oatmeal shampoo and rub in gently and rinse well. The Oatmeal is good for their skin. If this doesn't work then see your vet.

Which breed is smaller toy poodle or bichon frise?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes! The smallest dog that was ever on this planet was not a toy poodle. To tell the truth, toy poodles are small, but there are smaller dogs and breeds. The toy poodle is a breed that could be on the top ten smallest breeds! The chihuahua is the number one smallest dog breed in the world.

The so-called teacup dogs are basically anything smaller than the range of a particular breed in the toy category (eg a toy poodle less than 4 pounds), but it is not a recognized distinction, not is it valued, except as a novelty. Teacup dogs may be runts or preemies, and breeding for that trait can lead to serious health problems.

Can you leave a bichon frise for 7 hours a day?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If it has food, water, a place to pee/poop, it's OK on occasion--but ideally a dog should not be alone for more than 6 hours. The first and foremost thing a dog needs is your time and your attention, so find a way to include your dog in your life more or find a dog walker or dog sitter to give the dog more attention if you are unable to. I suggest you don't get a dog if you are going to leave the poor thing alone for 9 hours a day. Dogs need love, play, and all that stuff. YOU SHOULD NEVER leave a dog home alone 9 hours each day. If your going to be gone that long, than a dog is too much of a responcibility right now...

Can an iceberg roll over?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

In a condition of warm water and cold air, the bottom would melt faster than the top and it would roll over. As the ice on the bottom melted, it would become top heavy. I would think that it is not impossible for some icebergs. The more closely an iceberg resembles a sphere, (or log-like) the more likely that some rolling might occur. And I would think that while it might be unlikely, it is probably possible for some icebergs to be sphere-like.

The same proportions of ice above and below the waterline will hold throughout the life of the iceberg; there would be no such thing as a top-heavy iceberg unless perhaps it got grounded on a shoal.

What is a good companion for a Bichon Frise?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I have a Bichon Frise and he LOVES any dog. You should likely get another small dog. Another Bichon would be great.

Mine is very submissive & takes a lot of play abuse from other dogs, so it depends on how your dog behaves with others. He loves his friend who is a Daushaund, but she likes to bite on his ears and loves to bite on his poofy fur! So be careful. my bichon is different. Mine only likes mellow dogs. Like a old golden retriever across the street, my dog loves. but growls at yippy and hiper dogs.. you know, all bichons are different.

Why does your bichon frise cy all the time?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Bishon's are known as the "cry baby" dogs for the most part because they form extreamly strong bonds with their owners. You can think of a bishon as being like a child with very bad separation issues. But this becomes better with age. Not that having an enthusiastic welcome everytime you leave and enter a room is annoying or anything...
