bio-luminescence is light produced by a living organism, such as a firefly
How do bio fuels contribute to sustainability?
They don't, they are made by growing plants (food crops) and using the produce to make oils which are turned into bio fuels. This may sound neat but it means that people elsewhaer in the world go hungry because that food is no longer available for them to eat.....bio fuels are a red herring.
What is Bio-energetics theory?
Bioenergetics; it is the qualitative study of energy relationships and energy conversions in biological systems .
Example;
.respiration in mitochondria
it is based on which method to be used for oil extraction from algae. For Eg. if you use soxhlet the oil will be appeared in greenish coluor, for Bligh and Dyer method the oil will be light brown in colour.

Why biodiesel is not used commercially?
Because its disadvantages far outweigh its advantages. ULSD motors require expensive conversions to run on biodiesel (contrary to what seems to be popular belief, you don't just pump biodiesel into any ULSD motor without conversion), and it doesn't perform as well as ULSD #2 does.
Biodiesel fuel is fuel for diesel engines that is derived from plants or animals instead of petroleum. It can made by altering used vegetable oil or kitchen grease. When this is done, it can be used in any diesel engine without alteration and is actually better for the engine than petroleum based diesel oil, though it gets thicker than ordinary diesel oil in cold weather, and it may be necessary to deal with this. Altering the source oil produces a byproduct, which is glycerin and can be purified and used for various purposes.
Another approach to biological products in a diesel engine is to filter the source product (used vegetable oil) and use it without altering it. If this is done, the diesel engine has to be prepared for it with minor alterations. The problems with cold weather also become more pronounced, and the oil often is heated before it is put into the engine.
It depends which type of oil you are referring to.
If you are referring to petroleum, it's not a biofuel in the usual sense. Current usage of the term "biofuel" indicates fuel made from recently harvested living material. Petroleum is biofuel only in the sense that it came from material that was living many millions of years ago, and so it is normally considered a non-renewable mining product.

Bio fuel is basically fuel but instead of using fossil fuel to make it, you use matter to make it (for example: vegetable oil can be used to produce Bio-fuel.

Biodiesels are primarily derived from many lipid monomers joined together by ester bonds to create polymers. As a result, biodiesels contain oxygen along the polymer chains, so no, they are not hydrocarbons.

Difference between biodiesel and petro diesel?
advantages of both are-
bio diesel - biodegradable
renewable
non toxic
alternative for diesel. bio diesel is made from any vegetable oil or animal fat
diesel - cheaper than bio diesel
How does Biomass energy affect the environment?
Biomass energy has little harmful effect on the environment.
Biomass energy is usually electricity from a power station where the fuel used is wood or other vegetation, rather than fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas).
Burning biomass does release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. However, this same carbon dioxide was removedfrom the atmosphere fairly recently (usually during the last growing season), so biomass is carbon neutral, that is, it does not contribute to global warming.
The reason fossil fuels are causing global warming is that the carbon they release when burnt has been hidden away underground for 300 million years. Emitting this now is letting it build up in the atmosphere adding to the greenhouse effect and trapping more heat.
What are the pros and cons of biofuel?
Pros
Cons
Biodiesel is made from oils or fats, which are hydrocarbons. Fresh soybean oil is most commonly used, although biodiesel can be made from mustard seed oil or waste vegetable oil (such as used oil from restaurant deep fryers). These hydrocarbons are filtered and mixed with an alcohol, such as methanol, and a catalyst (sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide), resulting in a chemical reaction whose major products are the biodiesel fuel and glycerol
How are banana leaves and sheaves used as a fuel substitute?
Banana leaves and sheaves can be burnt as biomass to generate electricity, in the same way that fossil fuels like coal and oil are used. Using biomass slows the speed of global warming.
How do you get energy from biofuel?
There are many ways in which you could get energy from biofuel. You could for example burn the biofuel substance.
How does the production of bio fuel affect animal feeds?
it decreases the amount of animal feed going out, being distributed. which could be a could thing, you don't want wild animals coming into large metropolitan cities
Why is biofuel not a fossil fuel?
Biofuels are fuels made from living things, while fossil fuels are made from the decompostion of plants and animals that have died.
How do you convert a Mercedes 200D to bio diesel?
No conversion necessary. Pump it in and go, just like petroleum diesel. The car will run about the same. Biodiesel is, as far as the car is concerned, just diesel. This is not true of vegetable oils, so please do not confuse the two. Biodiesel can be made from vegetable oil, but the process involves heat and chemicals that make the biodiesel very different from the original oil. This is not to say that the fuel is trouble free. Biodiesel often cleans out the fuel tank and lines, and your filter may clog several times on the first tank. I hear recommendations that you use 5-10% biodiesel with the rest regular diesel on the first tank and change the fuel filter after the first tank. Then bump to about 25% biodiesel on the second tank and change the fuel filters. Then 50% on the third tank, and change the filters. Then 100%, if you wish, on the fourth tank. You are less likely to have a clogged filter strand you this way. Carrying a spare set of filters in the trunk at all times during this period would be a wise choice. Biodiesel is also harder on rubber parts. Old fuel lines will begin to leak. You can replace them to start with, or like most, just watch them carefully and replace at the first sign of leakage.
