The American colonists were tired of being forced to have only one choice of tea to buy and drink (which was tea from the East India Company), so they decided to rebel against it. On December 16, 60 Boston colonists disguised as Native Americans jumped onto the tea ships and dumped 342 chests of the tea into the Boston Harbor.

The Boston tea act was an act that people did because they got mad. They got on a ship and threw boxes and boxes of tea into the lake the boat was in.

A group known as the â??Sons of Libertyâ?? dressed like Mohawk Indians, boarded three British ships in Boston Harbor and dumped 342 crates of tea into the water. Their usual tactics had been to scare off the ships by threats of violence to the captain and crew. However this time they demanded the ships return to England, while the British governor of Massachusetts, Thomas Hutchinson ordered them to stay.

The British taxes on goods created hard feelings between the British and colonists. British soldiers panicked during a protest and caused the Boston Massacre. The British repealed all taxes except the one on tea in an effort to prove to the colonists that they had the power to tax the colonies. The colonists protested and caused the Boston Tea Party.

The Boston Tea Party was a direct action by the Boston colonists. Boston a town in the British colony of Massachusetts, against the Great Britain Government and the monopolistic East India Company that controlled all the tea imported into the colonies. On December 16, 1773, after officials in Boston refused to return three shiploads of taxed tea to Britain, a group of colonists boarded the ships and destroyed the tea by throwing it into Boston Harbor. The incident remains an iconic event of American history, and other political protests often refer to it.

During 1776-1783 men and women wore different outfits that were very casual. Women wore gowns, designed jackets, redingotes,underware that came all the way up to their armpit, golden high heeled shoes,and many hairstyles and headgears. Men wore narrow coats,sleeve shirts, stockings,breeches, low heeled leather shoes, and powdered wigs and head gear.

2) Smuggling: Because Mercantilist policy forbade trading with other countries, many Americans decided to trade with their neighbors by smuggling goods into American ports. John Hancock was known to have made a good living selling smuggled tea to the colonists, especially during this period.
