Why can't we access the other side of our brain.?
According to a survey from 2013, around 65 percent of Americans believe that we only use 10 percent of our brain. But this is just a myth, according to an interview with neurologist Barry Gordon in Scientific American. He explained that the majority of the brain is almost always active.
Why can I release happy brain chemicals at will?
I have tried to find the answer online and failed which could confirm my uniqueness to this ability. I believe I am able to release happy brain chemicals at will. I close my eyes think for 3 seconds which will take some explaining about how I think in this certain way, and then have my head and back completely tingle and contract while having an amazing feeling which lasts for 5 mins. I don’t get a headache but I feel dopy for 15 mins after I do it. It feels great and lowers my heart rate and is quite additive. But not sure if this a long term damaging thing to me. Can anyone else do this or known of this?
The part of the brain concerned with visual perception?
The part of the brain primarily concerned with visual perception is the occipital lobe, located at the back of the brain. It contains the primary visual cortex (V1), which processes visual information received from the eyes. This area plays a crucial role in interpreting aspects such as color, motion, and depth. Other areas, such as the temporal and parietal lobes, also contribute to higher-level visual processing and perception.
What does it mean when the MRI states Marked patchy to confluent abnormal T2 signal white matter?
increase brain T2 signal from white matter in MRI might be due to AIDS dementia complex
What do the brain and the spinal cord together make up?
The brain and the spinal cord make up what is called the central nervous system.
Does the brain experience pain during open-brain surgery?
no but penetrating the skull is not comfortable
~There are no pain sensors in most of the brain tissue itself, so your brain generally cannot feel pain; however, blood vessels and their supporting tissue that penetrate the brain, certain specific areas of the brain (e.g. the periaqueductal gray) and the surrounding tissues do have these pain sensors, which is why they do use anesthesia!
Is the brain stem the base of the brain?
Yes, it is basically the base of the brain; it is where the brain starts. The brain stem extends from the spinal cord into the brain and is the oldest (most primitive) part of the brain. Over time, the brain has developed on top of the brain stem to come to what it is today (in modern humans).
The cerebral cortex does control the various skills that we use in our day to day lives.
Does long follicular phase affect fertility?
I have a long follicular phase sometimes 25 days long, my last follicular phase was 21 days long, that cycle I thankfully conceived, I am now 6 weeks pregnant! It did take 18 months of trying but it happened so stick at it!! I felt like it was happening to everybody in the world but me. Stick with it stay positive and this will happen for you xx
most superficial layer of the meninges, covers the brain and spinal cord
Pia mater is the delicate innermost vascular layer of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Note that it is not spelled 'matter', as the word does not refer to physical matter, but derives from Latin for mother; the name/phrase means tender mother, in that by enclosing cerebrospinal fluid it works with the other stronger meninges to cushion the brain like a mother cradles and protects a child. The membranes are called the meninges, and from the surface of the brain outward are the pia mater, arachnoid mater, and dura mater. The pia mater is mesh-like, allowing capillaries to pass through it to nourish the brain, and it is firmly attached to the surface of the brain.
Cerebellum Infarct or infarction is a clot of an artery in the brain. The cerebellum is the part of the brain which coordinates muscle movement. Infarction is a medical condition in which tissue dies because the arterial blood supply is blocked. This basically means a stroke (from what i have read and been told). This is a more understandable version. to find out more contact you're GP.
What does it mean bilateral frontal lobe hemorrhagic contusion?
Since my brain was removed, all my cognitive consciousness would be left with my brain, therefore I would be new brain in my old body. Where would you put my dear, dear brain? I personally would like it transplanted to one of those rich lovelies who really don't use their own brains very much. I would take their body and give it a rest also.
Do tumors pressing on the brain cause crying?
Tumor growth in brain will cause pressure/ damage to neighboring cells which may cause agonizing pain/paralyzing effect on any part of the body.
Medulla oblongata conrtrolls concentraion of carbon dioxide in blood?
The medulla oblongata, located in the brainstem, plays a crucial role in regulating respiration and maintaining homeostasis of blood gases. It monitors the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the blood through chemoreceptors that detect changes in pH and CO2 levels. When CO2 levels rise, the medulla triggers an increase in respiratory rate to expel more CO2, thereby helping to restore balance. This regulation is vital for maintaining proper oxygen levels and overall respiratory function.
Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is particularly useful for detecting brain areas active during mathematical calculations. This technique measures changes in blood flow associated with neural activity, allowing researchers to identify regions that are engaged while performing specific tasks. Combining fMRI with cognitive tasks can help pinpoint areas involved in numerical processing, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. Additionally, electroencephalography (EEG) could complement fMRI by providing real-time data on electrical activity in the brain during these calculations.
To maintain solute concentration gradient in the renal medulla what is required?
active transport of sodium and chloride ions from the ascending limb of the loop of Henle.

What is a decrease in brain function that includes personality changes and memory loss?
In general, the term for a decrease in brain function, along with personality changes and memory loss is called dementia. There are at least 3 diseases that cause dementia. The most popularized one is Alzheimer's Disease. People with it might suffer depression in their 30's and then gradually forget things as they become older, and then they reach a point where they may come across as mean or vindictive when that is not like them.
Parkinson's Disease may have somewhat similar symptoms. They may shake a bit and start to forget things. They also may have some psychological changes.
