What instrument in the brass family does not have valves?
Most trombones don't have valves and just have a slide to change the length of the tubing that the air travels through. A bugle is another brass instrument that does not have valves. All changes in pitch are made by altering the player's embouchure on the bugle.
Total length including neck loop is over 5 feet of tubing but standing height after bends is just over 3 feet. Weight depends on quality of manufacture; usually between 12 and 15 pounds (though it feels heavier, and carrying it around in a case, it feels like about 30 pounds!). Diameter of the end of the bell also varies a bit by manufacturer. In terms of size, although called "baritone" saxophone, it is a bass instrument, with a range that goes just slightly lower than a bass clarinet and ends just one whole step higher than a bassoon.

How do you hold a Baritone Horn?
your left hand's pointer, middle, and ring fingers go on the 3 valves and the thumb goes around the tube on the trigger valve. the pinkie goes under the little metal hook underneath the valves on the tube. the right hand goes in the bell, like a karate chop with an incredibly slight cup, all the way to the edge of the bell parallel to the body and tilted slightly upward. See related link to see how your hand should be. Never should it be on the other side of the bell, because it will make the tone TERRIBLE.

Is French horn or baritone easier to play?
It depends on what key the single horn is in. A double horn is pitched in F and Bb, switching between the two keys with the thumb (T) valve. A Bb horn is easier to play because there's less tubing to blow through, making high notes easier to hit and lower notes clearer. However, the tone of them is particularly bright, giving it a nasty sound in the horn's middle and mid-low range. Because of this, a double horn a popular choice because it gives the musician the best of both worlds.
Despite this, starting off on a single F horn is actually a wise choice. Beginner horn music is generally really simple, so the higher and lower ranges of the horn aren't used. The longer they stay on the single F horn, the stronger they'll be when they switch to a double.

What is the symbol which indicates a mute for brass instruments in sheet music?
The basic use of the mute is to alter the sound coming from the instrument.
"Straight mutes" are used for sections in music that require a more nasal sound, and can also be used when a trumpet player plays oboe cues when there is no oboe player. "Cup mutes" make the nasal sound of the straight music more mellow, and they often come in the form of a "cup" than attaches to the straight mute. "Bucket mutes" give brass instruments a more mellow sound and can substitute for flugal horns. A substitute for a bucket mute is to play into the music stand. Harmon mutes are generally used to make a "cool" nasal sound and can be used with and without the stem for more options. Plunger mutes are literally the end of a plunger (only the simple type of plunger) used to make the "wa-wa" effect.
If the music just says "mute" it is referring to a straight mute... unless it is jazz music, in which case it means a Harmon mute.

The list price of a T602 Holton Trumpet is $1099, but it can be found at discount stores for about $699. A good rule of thumb for a used instrument is about 1/2 of that cost, or about $350. I would suggest asking that for an instrument in excellent shape, or less for instruments that show more use.
How is a trumpet manufactured?
The brass is bemt manualy and mechanicly to form the shape. The main tube with the bell is made seperatly. They fill it with a soapy solution and freeze it. One the solution is frozen, the can bend the metel without it buckeling. The bell shape is formed by bending the metel, and later hammering it, but to make the shape round, they spin the whole thing (when it is still unbent) and smooth it out. The other tubes and valves are attached to the bent main tube later.
The horn reached its first wave of popularity in the 18th century with the technique we call hand horn playing. The horn player filled in the gaps of the natural harmonic series by inserted the hand it the bell and either sharpening or flattening the harmonics enough to play diatonically and chromatically int he middle range of the instrument. This made the horn the most popular solo instrument of the brass family. We have 4 concerti by Mozart (plus 3 more fragments), concerti by F.J. Haydn, and many by A. Rossetti. Giovanni Punto was the star hornist of that era and Mozart's friend. Joseph Leitgeb was the hornist for whom he wrote his concerti.
