Bruises (contusions)

Bruises are formed when an impact on the skin breaks capillaries and causes bleeding into skin tissue while the skin does not break. Bruises change color over time as the body begins to heal itself. In most cases, it takes a bruise about 2 weeks to repair itself.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There are alot of very different things that could cause this and there is alot of background information your doctor will need in order to properly diagnose you. It could be that you are deficient in clotting factor, in which case you are bleeding out internally (serious problem), it is similar to a sign of Ebola (serious problem) or HIV (serious problem). If you have a tendency to slam into things or fall over alot it could be bruises (not as serious of a problem) it could be an autoimmune disorder. You should see a doctor, they will some questions to narrow things down and can better help you.

Can you drink alcohol with a spleen contusion?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Alcohol in and by itself cant. However check out some secondary causes of alcohol abuse, IF you are a persistent heavy drinker(binge drinking especially), you are at risk of developing calicifications in your pancreas. This reduces the proper function of your pancreas over time and can produces what are called pseudocysts. This can be the culprit that will cause you to possibly bleed to death because depending on where the pseudocyst is, it can burst your spleen. I say this because it is exactly what happened to me. I was lucky I was sober at the time it burst at 1:30 in the morning

, that way I could feel the emense pain of the rupture and feel the incredible instant nausea and blood vomiting, that I did not aspirate into my lungs.

How do you tell if a bruise is a hicky?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

  • Generally a hicky is on the side of the neck and it is causing by the other person vigorously sucking on that section of the neck causing the blood to surface under the skin and is blue/red (mostly red in color.) A bruise is on another part of the body where you may have hit your shin or arm and is dark blue; sometimes black and as it heals can have a yellowing appearance.

A bruise and a hickey are basically the same thing. Broken blood vessels. But the hickey is purposefully induced. It's a juvenile, silly thing to do.

Can pulmonary contusion cause high blood pressure?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I would say yes. If you got hit in the head there may be an internal bleeding whereas the blood may also clot. There is no spac to get that bad blood out so as the blood increases there is pressure placed on that side or that area where you got the hit causing your heart pressure to rise then leading to High Blood Pressure.
