How to change rotor on Buick?

I've just changed a rear rotor of my 1996 buick regal. 1. Jack the car up and Remove the wheel 2. Use a 19 socket wrench (same size with wheel nut wrench) to loose 2 Caliper nuts (it is difficulty, they are too tight, need a hammer) 3. Remove caliper 4. Remove the rotor 5. Clean surface then assemble them Sorry, I am a new immigrant with a pool English. But it is really so easy to change a rotor. It is the first time to change it for me, it took me 40 minutes but save $100. I bought a new rotor at Canadian Tire, just 24 dollar.

What years were Buick Grand Nationals produced?

The most popular were manufactured between 1985 to 1987 but there was a 1983 Grand National that was manufactured as well.

Buick started this whole deal with the Turbo Buick back in 1976 with the 1976 Century Indy Pace Car which was a 231 V6 Indy Pace Car that out accelerated the Buick 455 from 90 to 110 mph! 8-) shortly thereafter the Turbo V6 ended up in Buick production as "Hotair" turbos (no intercooler) and culminated in 1986 and 1987 as the "BadBoy" intercooled Buick Grand Nationals with the 1987 being the fastest US production car for 1987. Then Pontiac used the Buick Turbo V6 in the 1989 Trans Am. And let's not forget the awesome 1987 GNX...LOL.

See the following website for all the good information on this outstanding vehicle ;-) : http://home.flash.net/~rjgeorge

To see a "Real" Grand National go to www.tufenuf.net and click on "Grocery Getter" That's not my Buick GN.........Mines faster 8-)

I would also like to add that the same turbo V6 was also offered in the 1981 Chevy Monte Carlo. Buick Regal Turbos before the famed GN were called T Types.

Does any one know if any manual front wheel drive trans will bolt up to a gm supercharged Buick 3800 v6?

Gm is nice. They have only one 60 degree bolt pattern. 99.9% of gm front wheel drive vehicles are 60 degree. This includes your fwd caddy v-8's. I know for a fact the buick 3800 series engines are included in this. The only one I can think of that isn't a 60 degree pattern is the old iron 3.8 buick motors used up to about 1985. The problens you might incounter using a manual behind a 3800 would be the pilot bearing, and what flywheel to use. You might be able to get away using the flywheel off the donor vehicle. Good luck, Mike the Getrag F23 has been used with this engine in Cavaliers.

the Getrag F35 might also fit.

the F23 is a 5-speed, the F35 is a 6-speed

the F35 is used in the Pontiac G6, I believe with the 3.9L v-6 (same engine family as the 3800 s/c?)

How do you remove the dimmer switch on a '91 Buick?

Dimmer switch is in the bottom of the steering column. drop the steering from the inside, may have two plates to protect you from crashes and SIR system wiil have to be disconnected. there will be two 15mm bolts holding the bottom of the support gear, you might want to take off the steering wheel to give yourself more room. Iformation for the SIR the connector is always yellow with a red middle insert pin, remove pin and lift tab to disconnect the SIR CONTROL SWITCH IN THE STEERING WHEEL. Now along the left side of the steering column you follow a toggle rod down about half way to a plastic switch that has a blue and orange wires connceted to it. wires are possible 10 or 12 guage. There will be 2 7 or 8 mm head screws holding the switch. loosen them and take the switch out and replace, do not bend the rod coming down from the turn signal lever. yyou are done. GNX MAN

What is making a tapping sound when the 2002 Buick engine is cold?

Not to worry it is the valves in the engine tapping because there is not enough oil pressure yet for the fluid lifters to take up the slack in the valve train, that is why it goes away after a few minutes and also why you should always let your engine warm up before driving. a rod nock

What is the normal operating oil pressure for a 2000 Buick 3.8 L engine?

Hey Rino==It shold be about 6#-15# at idle and 25#-45# at 55 mph. This is approxamate as the gauges on cars are not REAL accurate. If the factory put in gauges that were very precise, the price would have to go up another $500. If your oil preasure is much different than I have specified, have a manual gauge installed at least temporarily to see how accurate your gauges are. GoodluckJoe

How do you replace the supercharger oil on a Buick Regal 2001 3.8 Liter engine?

There is a hex screw located on the top of the supercharger pump (that's the beltdriven device at the top left of the engine as you face the car from the front). Unscrew the hex screw and use a hand held baster to suck out the old fluid. You then need to buy two bottles of GM Supercharger fluid. Go online and search for it. Each bottle holds 4 oz. Both should empty into the pump. I think I ordered mine from a place named paceauto.com. Remember to put the hex screw back in the pump.

How do you change the air filter on a 2003 Buick 3.8 ltr v6 engine?

Pop open the hood. Look for the big thing right on top that looks like a deep black frying pan with a lid. On this lid there is a wingnut that holds the lid on. Unscrew this and DO NOT LOSE IT!!! Take the lid off and change your air filter. It should look like a dirty ring. Just set the other one in there, it is supposed to kinda move side to side a little. Put the lid and the wingnut on, and you have changed your own air filter. actually on the newer cars the filters arent round those are topmount filters which are used with older carb. injected cars. newer efi's the filter will be on the right hand side towards the front will either have screws are latches. just undo & pull off if you have forced intake you may have to take off the hose running into the top. put your new air filter in make sure the side with the seal is up.

What is pcm powertrain contol module for a Buick transmission?

The PCM is short for powertrain control module. It monitors the engine and transmission and makes everything work together. For example, the PCM will check the vehicle speed, RPM, throttle position and tell the transmission when to do a 2-3 upshift or downshift when necessary. It also logs trouble codes if there's a problem.

What is the order of the fuses under the steering column of a 1992 Buick Park Avenue?

In a 1992 Buick Park Avenue, the fuses under the steering column are typically organized in a fuse box that includes fuses for various electrical systems. The order of the fuses may vary slightly depending on the specific configuration of the vehicle, but they generally follow a labeled sequence. To find the exact order and functions of each fuse, it's best to consult the owner's manual or a fuse diagram specific to that model year. This ensures accurate identification of any issues related to electrical components.

How do you change a starter on a 1993 Buick century V6?

replacing the starter is relatively simple, what do is remove the wires from the starter solenoid which is located on top of the starter motor, and mark where the wires came from, there is a small terminal then there is a bigger terminal. oh and un hook the battery before that because it's an unpleastant surprise. then using a jack support the starter before the bolts are removed, then remove the bolts, which in most cases are 15mm, then lower the jack with the starter and put the new one one the jack. raise the jack and hook everything back up. get the starter secured and hook the wires up then the battery and turn it over. jeremy aka ccz5105
