For cents, nickels, dimes, and quarters: unless there is something special about it, it will be worth face value. 1965 half dollars are 40% silver so they're worth about $2.50 as of early 2009.

A 1956 Canadian dime is worth approximately 2 dollars.

I checked at the gold buyer P3M Refining. At the current silver price the metal worth of that coin is about 2.54 USD. Of course they will pay your 70% of what your coin is worth. So that would be about 1.84 USD.

If its in good to excellent condition it can be pricely. Depending on the condition it can fetch $500 to $800

There is about 10 - 20 oz of silver in a 1867-1967 Canadian silver dollar

I've found a Canadian penny without a year date on it, but it does have a 1867 - 1992 date on it? I've looked around a little bit and see no mention of this date grouping, Is this a common thing? I'm not well versed in Canada currency. please inform me of it significance. Thank You Joe

As of mid-2010 the Canadian and US dollars are nearly the same so the coin is worth about the same in both countries. However Canadian coins aren't accepted in many US stores except near the border. Also nearly all Canadian 5-cent piece(*) are made of pure nickel or steel which are attracted to a magnet, so they probably won't work in an American vending machine either.

(*) The coin is more often called a 5-cent piece in Canada, although the term "nickel" is used as well.

Most people are placing the valua as $100-150 though independent valuers also range it from $1500-2500 depending on condition.

Canada has never issued a Halfpenny or half cent coin since Confederation.

Prior to Confederation, any Halfpenny coins circulating in what was to become Canada would have been British Halfpennies. British coins do not have the country name on them.

Until Confederation, private banks such as the Bank of Upper Canada and the Bank of Montreal, issued their own coins and some of the provinces such as New Brunswick and Nova Scotia issued their own coins.

All of these coins will indicate the origin of the coin.

Unless there is something extra-ordinary about the penny it wouldn't make it into an auction (unless it's part of a larger lot). The Centennial penny is very common because so many were minted. If it's a coin you pulled out of your pocket change, it is worth .01 cent. If it's an uncirculated coin it's worth maybe .75 cents.

The US has never made coins from pure nickel.

Canadian nickels were made of 99.9% pure nickel from 1922 to 1999, except during wartime due to metal shortages.

I'm not sure what you mean by "base" penny. Anyway, values for the 3 mints are:

No mint mark - retail would be about $1 in average circulated condition.

H mint mark - $2 to $3

KN mint mark - $15.

These prices increase significantly if the coin is not heavily worn.

Because of the high number of pennies minted in 1971 (almost 300 million), 1971 Canadian pennies are of very little numismatic value. In completely uncirculated condition your coin may be worth four cents, but coins that were circulated are basically worth face value.

Copper-nickel, not silver.

Brass, not gold.

It's a common circulation coin with the slang name "twonie" or "toonie" and it has no extra value unless it's in proof or uncirculated condition.

Like all collectibles value is determined based on age & condition of the coin. Your best bet is to see a local coin dealer to determine it's value.

From what I've found so far it can be worth a few dollars on up.

The silver value of a 1964 Canadian 50 cent piece (commemorating Charlottetown in Prince Edward Island) is about US$1.70 (as of December 23, 2008). There would be a small numismatic premium depending on condition, but unless it is in quite extraordinary condition, it is unlikely to be worth more than about US$4.00.
