Candy Bars

Candy bars did not exist in 1940. In fact they were invented in 1943 as an offshoot of allied wartime research. However the discovery did not reach the public until after the end of the second world war due to wartime privations, arriving in US shops in 1947. Britain did not see the candy bar until later due to the existence of rationing into the 1950s. Additonally they were (are) not known as 'candy bars' in Britain, but rather 'Wonga Loads.'

The density of the chocolate bar will remain the same, even if the bar is cut in half, or any other fraction. Only if the chocolate was to be melted, will the density change from a solid to a liquid.

The amount is millions upon millions, almost too much to count.

How much sugar is in a bar of Galaxy chocolate depends upon the variety and size of the bar. For example, there are approximately 75 g of sugar in a 135 g bar of Galaxy Caramel and there are 16.8 g of sugar in a 31 g bar of Galaxy Bubbles.

No but it certainly tastes that way, doesn't it? While there isn't wax, there is a significant amount of oil which aids in the waxy texture. Higher quality chocolate is made with cocoa butter which gives it a smooth texture. However, Hershey's doesn't use as much cocoa butter as the higher grade stuff because it's more expensive. (which is why the Lindt bars cost much more than the Hershey's bars.)

The previous answer was New York City however that city only has about .0003 bars per person.

Accuall, La Crosse Wisonsin has 375 bars in that city with a 2009 population of 51,818 so with some simple math that is .00723 bars per person

Oswego, Ny has 35 bars and 17,705 people meaning the bar per capita ratio is 0.001694 which isn't the highest ratio but I've heard it had the most so i wanted to clear that up

Hurley, Wisconsin has 32 bars with a 2009 population of 1,509. making it .0212 bars per person or about 1 bar for every 47 people.

My mother, born in 1922 always told me that Hershey bars came out during WWII and were given to the soldiers in their MRE's. Many great recipes came out during the second world war that used Hershey bars.

This may or may not be exactly when they came out. But I had this conversation many times with my mother. She was in her 20's during the war so I think she would remember well.
