To discourage them from taking up residence on your property, start by eliminating their desired environments. Make sure your lawn is mowed and not overgrown with high weeds. Cut back overgrowth. Keep log piles and compost heaps a safe distance from your house. Use wire mesh fences at ground level around crawl spaces or your garden to keep snakes out of those places. Reducing the rodent population which is their main food supply will also send them elsewhere to eat. If you still find one slithering across your lawn, call the local Animal Control people to come remove it from your property.

This is not true. Corn snakes are far from cannibalistic, unlike king snakes. If the cage is too small however, they will become stressed. Stress also stems from the snakes being very different in size.

To tell if the snake is a male or female, you can look at some external features or sex it. Usually the spurs near the vent are longer in males, and the tail is also longer in males. Also, you can use either the probing method or the popping method of sexing. With the probing, the snake should be about a year old in order for the measurement to be accurate, the probe will go in about 4 scales for females, and about 9 for male. For the popping method, you will have to squeeze the cloaca or the hemipenes out from the vent. If hemipenes appear, a small protrusion, then it is a boy, and if a whitish bulb appears, the cloaca, it is a girl.

Female Corn Snakes will lay between 10 and 20 eggs, which will need to be incubated for between 55 and 65 days (7 to 9 weeks). Try to keep the eggs at a constant temperature of 26-29°C (79-85°F). Vermiculite is a good substrate to have inside the incubator as it will help keep the humidity levels correct.
