I actually own one myself and found out through a herpitologist friend of mine that these snakes actually do have venom glands in fangs, but the location of these fangs are so far back in the mouth of the snake that it would be damn near impossible for a human to be envenomated by them, making them available for commercial sale to the public. Just a note for you if you ever wonder, if they can be purchased at a reptile show without the need for the venomous license, then they are non lethal to humans. ie: scorpions, tarantulas and the hognose... they are all venomous, but not in a lethal way....
Truthfully, I own a bunch of snakes and would welcome the bite of my Hognose over the bite of my Burmese Python!!!
The hognose is by far the most docile of my snakes and the better feeder of all of them as well.
Typically though, hog noses have to go through scented feedings before accepting mice plain.
Snakes don't eat every day !
Depending on the species - They usually only eat once every 7-10 days, and when they get older and larger to the point where they eat large rats or other animals, only about once a month.

you can tell by the marking of its skin which are black rimmed and brown on hte inside, in between these markings it is a light brown color. The most signifent thing is the brown arrow shaped marking on its head. Near the end of the head in the middle should be a flame-shpaed hole in the marking. just look at a pic on Google.

What is the most harmless snake in the world?
well, some people believe that it is the egg eating snake, as it had no teeth and if it bites which it sometimes does to imitate other venomous snakes then it doesn't break the skin! others believe differently, of course!
Is it illegal to catch a snake and keep it?
It depends entirely on where you live and what species of snake it is. I would not recommend catching a wild animal to keep as a pet. They don't usually adapt well to captivity and it can be tricky to get unhappy snakes to eat. Many of the more common snake species (as well as the more exotic ones) are bred in captivity to be kept as pets. I would buy from a reputable breeder or a pet store that you can be sure is not dealing in wild-caught snakes.
Well, every ball python will be either male or female. But, the only way to tell is to have it sexed by a vet or to get a set of sexing probes (unless you are going to have a pro show you how to use these, never sex your snake yourself, you could injure or kill it.) If you are wondering why your snake won't mate though, there are lots of reasons. Breeding snakes in captivity can be hard. You will need to simulate a winter period and then gradually increase the temp and humidity (for both animals in separate habitats.) Once your fake weather has made it to "mating season" (about 2-3 months including winter period) you can introduce the female into the male's tank. If they hit it off great, it may take a few days. Don't feed them while they are together but be sure they have both eaten prior to mating. If they fight separate them and try again in a few months. A local zoo, vet or herpetologist can help you more. You may be able to get some advice from a local university too.
I think they could have meant in a sexual orientation way.
So in that sense, snakes are not able to be asexual. Animals have no sense of sexuality.
No - Corn Snakes are not venomous - or large enough to constrict you.
Can you feed a snake cat food?

Why has your snakes skin gone dull and eyes misty?
I have a snake myself and when my snake sheds it means it is ready to shed but try not to handle them and my snake doesn't eat for a few weeks before it sheds, make sure you have rough surfaces in the tank so it can rub its skin off !
A snow corn snake is a corn snake that is recessive in both Amelanism and Anerythrism. This causes both the black pigments (amelanistic), as well as the red and orange (anerythristic) colors to be absent. Some traces of yellow are sometimes previlant especially near the head of the animal.
How can you tell if a snake is a boy or a girl?
Unless you plan on breeding them, there's no reason to, just pick a gender to call it.
If you really need to know, there are several methods. The only method I would recommend without veterinary assistance is not very accurate unless you've had allot of practice, and that is to compare then length of the tail past the cloaca, males usually have longer, more slender tails. The other methods are 'popping' and 'probing', but unless you are experienced this is best left to a breeder or vet.
Spitting Cobras are well known for their ability to spit venom at their predators and prey.
Where are poisonous snakes are usually found?
There are no "poisonous" snakes. The appropriate word to use is "venomous", not "poisonous", because venom refers to a toxin that is injected by the animal, whereas poisonous animals are those who spread their toxin by being ingested or through contact with the skin.
Venomous snakes can be found in nearly all the same places that nonvenomous snakes can be found, with just a few exceptions is some of the cooler regions.
How many mice should i give a snake a week?
A neonate ( baby ) ball python needs to eat every 3 to 4 days until it is at least 200 grams. It is best to feed it pinky rats rather than mice if it will accept them.
For a ball python being raised as a pet rather than a breeder it can be fed ever 5 to 7 days once it is in the juvinile stages.
Is the corn snake nocturnal or diurnal?
nocturnal cause it wouldn`t be diurnal cause the anaconda wouldn`t be active
How do you keep your snake tank humid?
No, I'm told they can get fungal infections under their scales, but it's never happened to my snake and I live in the troppics. Mind you my snake likes to hang in his branches rather than lie in the water. I think it only realy happens when your snake lies in water too much. Some people I know have to give their snake a very small water dish to stop this happening. I think snakes also like to bath in their water before shedding their skin.
