Some times a corn snake will not eat if it 's viv is too cold or too hot so check the temp is not below 25 oc and not above 30 oc . Plus baby corn snakes can get stressed if you keep them in too bigger viv and will refuse too eat .

well, i live in lexington,Oklahoma which might be different climate where your at but here is where i find grass snakes under barrels, in grass [note have to look carfully] on a rocky road, bushes ,under logs, and sometimes on your front porch! i hope this was helpful to you [i have found 7 grass snakes with using thes place] oh! you find them in logs. peace

If you mean the thin shed skin - nothing because it's too fragile. If you mean the whole skin - it's used as a leather substitute - to make things like belts, purses, wallets etc.

I looked up the corn snake and it is said that they are not a mean nor poisonous so if that is what you want to do I don't see the issue. It is said that they are sometimes confused with the copper head snake which is very poisonus so I hope you aren't picking up the wrong one...Why the heck are you messing with them anyway? Pythons are safe to keep as a pet. You just need to be more cautious then with other snakes when your python gets to be five feet or longer. I have a ball Python and they are safe because they do not get to big but there are bigger kinds.

According to several sources, it is relatively easy to keep a corn snake as a pet. They are docile, easy to care for snakes. Owners must make sure that they have a simple enclosure which is inescapable, and be willing to feed the snake mice, as it is a carnivorous snake.

I actually own one myself and found out through a herpitologist friend of mine that these snakes actually do have venom glands in fangs, but the location of these fangs are so far back in the mouth of the snake that it would be damn near impossible for a human to be envenomated by them, making them available for commercial sale to the public. Just a note for you if you ever wonder, if they can be purchased at a reptile show without the need for the venomous license, then they are non lethal to humans. ie: scorpions, tarantulas and the hognose... they are all venomous, but not in a lethal way....

Truthfully, I own a bunch of snakes and would welcome the bite of my Hognose over the bite of my Burmese Python!!!

The hognose is by far the most docile of my snakes and the better feeder of all of them as well.

Typically though, hog noses have to go through scented feedings before accepting mice plain.

Depending on the species - They usually only eat once every 7-10 days, and when they get older and larger to the point where they eat large rats or other animals, only about once a month.

i have a corn snake & i feed it every wensday but here is a tip for you take the snake out of the cage and put the snake in the box when you feed it and wait till its half way down the snake then put it back in the cage i do this because every time you take the snake out to play with it the snake will think its food time and might charge at you but please make sure the snakes food is half way down if not and you pick it up it will throw it back up and mess up the snakes food schedule . you can tell by the marking of its skin which are black rimmed and brown on hte inside, in between these markings it is a light brown color. The most signifent thing is the brown arrow shaped marking on its head. Near the end of the head in the middle should be a flame-shpaed hole in the marking. just look at a pic on Google.

It depends entirely on where you live and what species of snake it is. I would not recommend catching a wild animal to keep as a pet. They don't usually adapt well to captivity and it can be tricky to get unhappy snakes to eat. Many of the more common snake species (as well as the more exotic ones) are bred in captivity to be kept as pets. I would buy from a reputable breeder or a pet store that you can be sure is not dealing in wild-caught snakes.

Well, every ball python will be either male or female. But, the only way to tell is to have it sexed by a vet or to get a set of sexing probes (unless you are going to have a pro show you how to use these, never sex your snake yourself, you could injure or kill it.) If you are wondering why your snake won't mate though, there are lots of reasons. Breeding snakes in captivity can be hard. You will need to simulate a winter period and then gradually increase the temp and humidity (for both animals in separate habitats.) Once your fake weather has made it to "mating season" (about 2-3 months including winter period) you can introduce the female into the male's tank. If they hit it off great, it may take a few days. Don't feed them while they are together but be sure they have both eaten prior to mating. If they fight separate them and try again in a few months. A local zoo, vet or herpetologist can help you more. You may be able to get some advice from a local university too.
