Cats are a type of pet first domesticated in Egypt around 2500 BC. Today, they are very popular as companion animals worldwide. Cats are independent, and are less attention demanding than other animals. They also need very little exercise and does not need to be walk daily, like the way dogs do. How long does it take for a female cat to give birth?

As long as needed for all the newborn kittens to be born. A cat will usually know when she is done birthing because by that time, she will have settled down and have started the feeding process.

Our cat gave birth to 2 kittens at 9pm in the evening, then had a 12 hr gap between them and the next 2 kittens which were delivered at 9am the following morning. She was feeding the original 2 kittens through the night and seemed relaxed. Guess the other 2 were just not ready!
Cats usually take 4 - 6 hours to deliver her entire litter though if labor persists over 7 hours they should see a veterinarian.

How do you feed a kitten with no mom cat?

A one day-four weeks old kitten needs to be fed (i am assuming it has been orphaned) with a baby bottle for kittens. Usually a 60ml bottle, with a nipple on the top. You either need to go buy some kitten milk formula and follow the directions or use the following recipe:

-1 can P.E.T. milk (evaporated milk with a cow picture)

-1 can water (fill the evaporated milk can with water)

-1 egg yolk (make sure it is just the yolk!)

-2 drops of Karo light corn syrup (the sugar is good for them)

mix it together and then put it in the bottle and warm up the bottle to match the kitten's body temperature. Test it on your hand and then hold the kitten upright and hold its head up and place the nipple into its mouth. Be sure to give it a break every now and then so it will not choke. The recipe I gave will stay good for 48 hours in the fridge. Just be sure to warm it back up later.

And remember you have to help it pass wastes.

Is dry cat food better for your cat?

Compared to a premium wet food or raw food diet, no. Although, a high quality dry food which is free of grains such as Orijen, Felidae and Applaws are far better than lower-quality dry foods.

Unfortunately many, many dry cat food brands are not very good for the cat in the way of nutrition; dry foods and low-quality wet foods are often packed with carbohydrates - "filler" in the way of corns and grains, none of which cats can digest. Grain is used instead of meat because it is cheaper to produce and helps the kibble pieces hold together. So much difficultly digestible carbohydrates can cause a cat to vomit or have loose stool, or it is simply stored as fat. Some obese cats have gotten that way because of low-quality dry food.

A good quality wet food (high in Meat content and grain free such as Felidae, Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Eagle Pack etc.) is far better for a cat as far as nutrition is concerned. Cats are strict carnivores, so get all their energy from Protein and Fat which is abundant in meat. Premium wet foods contain quality meat sources and no grain. Another thing wet food has an advantage has over dry food is the moisture content.

Dry food contains no moisture, so is quite dehydrating. Cats are notoriously bad drinkers, even when they are thirsty. This is because they have evolved to get all their needed moisture from their prey (their ancestors were cats that lived in very dry and arid environments where water was hard to come by), so therefore have a low "thirst drive" and will not often seek out water on their own. This is a trait that has been passed down over the thousands of years.

Canned or pouched food has anywhere between 60 to 80% water. Seeing as in the wild a cat's prey is around 65%-75% water, wet food provides a cat with more than enough water each day.

Many dry foods and low-quality wet foods are often packed with carbohydrates - "filler" in the way of grains and cereals, none of which cats can digest or gain any nutrients from. Grain is used instead of meat because it is cheaper to produce and helps kibble pieces hold together. Cats need MEAT based protein, not PLANT based protein.

Lastly, it is a myth that dry food cleans a cat's teeth. Kibble pieces are so hard and brittle they shatter on contact, meaning the kibble breaks at the tips of the teeth which serves no cleaning action at all. This is if the cat even chews at all (most will crunch once or twice or swallow whole). This is like saying eating cookies or other hard, crunchy food keeps OUR teeth clean! To clean a cat's teeth effectively, you could brush your cat's teeth with a pet toothbrush and paste, or serve pieces of raw chicken. Chewing raw meat uses the whole tooth and massages the gums and is said to be the most effective way of keeping good dental health.

All in all, you could feed both wet and dry, but dry food only really serves as a convenience to us, and provides very little for your cat. There are some decent dry foods out there that are free of grains and have a good meat source, but even that will never compare to the nutrition of canned food.

How deep should the cat litter be in the litter pan?

It can be as deep as you like; it only needs to be deep enough to completely absorb urine and to keep the cat from exposing the bottom of the pan when it scratches in the litter. A good ballpark would be two to three inches deep for an average-sized cat.

Why do many cats and tigers have white paws?

The gene responsible for white paws in both domestic cats and tigers is likely the same. This gene causes a lack of pigment in the fur, leading to white patches on the extremities. It is a common genetic trait that has been passed down through generations in both species.
