How do you fix a loose cello string?

Firstly, bent the tip of the string slightly so that it can "hook" or anchor on the peg. Next, place the end of the string into the bottom hole where the fine-tuners are. Turn the peg clockwise, until the note is reached. Make sure that the string is on the bridge, and in its respective positions.

How much does a cello usually cost?

Some Cellos have 5 strings some have 4. If the Cello is a unpopular brand(Like a brand that would sell Cellos for about; 800+$?) , it'll be expensive: If its a cheap Cello that means the brand is popular. Depending on how old you are, if your 30+ you'd probably want a Adult(4/4) Cello, if your a kid/teenager you'd want a 1/2 or bigger but NOT a 4/4. I'm looking on Ebay for a Cello around 100$. How much is a used cello worth?

It depends what the brand is. Look inside the f hole and there should be a brand label stuck on the inside and possibly the year it was made. You will need to take it to a violin shop to get a good estimate of the value. The least expensive celli are sold for about $100. The most expensive "regular" ones, like the ones used by symphony members, are in the $100,000 - $250,000 range. Collectible celli can run $1mm and higher.

How many octaves lower is the bass than the cello?

In traditional cello tuning, the strings are fifths apart, just like a violin or viola. Thus, the strings are C, G, D, and A, from two octaves below middle C to just below middle C. The highest reachable note is more a matter of practice than an absolute limit, however hitting notes an octave above middle C (highest I've seen in sheet music is a high E) is not unreasonable. So, the effective range of a cello is somewhere around three octaves.

Usual six-string tuning is a low F, the usual C, G, D, and A, and then a high E. That gives a hair less than three octaves between strings. Add to that the octave-and-a-half you can get on a single string, and that leaves you somewhere around four and a half octaves of total range.

Who invented the cello bow?

Nobody knows who made the first bow, but it was Tourte who revolutionized bowmaking with a bow that bent towards the stick, not away from it. Tourte was called the "Stradivari of the Bow". Hope that helps.

I'm sorry, but your answer is really not at all correct. You may be entitled to your opinions, but not your incorrect facts. A symphony orchestra may have from 8 to 12 cellos; that's hardly 'not many.' In fact, in an 80-member symphony orchestra, the cello section usually constitutes at least 10 percent of the total orchestra! I don't know who you reference when you claim "they think violin and viola are better" but that's a totally absurd statement. And as for arm length? Apparently you know little to nothing about the cello.

Is a cello and a bass the same instrument?

The short answer is no, but the two have some important connections.

First, the bass guitar is pitched a full octave below the cello. The bass guitar is in the same pitch range as what is called the double bass, bass, or upright bass.

Second, the standard tuning of the bass guitar is in fourths (Do to Fa) starting at E, while the standard tuning of the cello is in fifths (Do to So) starting at C. The lowest note on the Bass Guitar with standard tuning is

The lowest note on Cello is the C at around 64 Hz

, also called C below C below middle C. It's just off the bottom of the bass clef.

Using standard tuning of a 4 string base, the bottom note is the same as that of a double bass. It's the E at about 41 Hz. But a 5 string bass has a now B at about 30 hz. Many bass players tune the bottom note lower to provide a deeper sound. Some tune the guitar exactly like cello, but sounding an octive lower.

How much is a cello string cost?

depends on a few "factors" guage of strings thin strings usually a month, heavy about 2 before one breaks for me..if you clean them or not and how much you experiment with tunings. Other than that just how much you play and I guess style as say black metal you're probably gonna break a heavy E faster than a blues player. Also whammy bars can break strings much quicker.

Me personally I wait until one breaks before I switch the set, keep the old ones too, you may need them down the road! Others wait until the new string sound is gone so its all you really.. message me if you need more help as some stuff may not have made sense to beginners.
