Haha! for SURE! A lot of the girls on my cheer team are SUPER tall. Height doesn't really matter in the main routine and tumbling at all. And tall cheerleaders are ALWAYS needed in stunting to act as the "third", but could also be a top if they are not too heavy. And for that matter...anyone could be a cheerleader if they wanted too! :P

What do you do if you make the cheer leading team?

Team work on a cheer squad is helping your teammates to reach your goal, and working together to get the flyer up in the air without dropping her. Cheerleaders need teamwork in a cheer squad, as the bases have to work together to get the flyer up in the air while the back spot has to work with the flyer to see what she's comfortable with. The back spot also has to work with the bases, to make sure they know what they're doing. The tumblers have to work together to make sure they are spread out enough to wear they don't run into each other when in the act of tumbling. Last but definitely not least, the team has to work together to keep their smiles on their faces, no matter how many bruises, cuts, broken limbs, etc... to accomplish their goal. Not only that but they have to be counting in their head while all of this is going on.

How much does a College Cheer Coach make in a year?

It really depends on where you are coaching & how much THEY pay you. Honestly, coaches for cheer do not get paid a lot. If you love cheer, that's what makes you want to coach, not how much money you make. If you are not devoted to coaching, it's definitely not the job for you.

How can you start a cheer leading squad?

You start your own cheerleading squad by getting a couple people to coach and then making flyers asking people to join the squad and dont forget to make the name of the cheerleading squad.

HOPE YOU GET A LOT OF PEOPLE TO JOIN YOUR SQUAD!!

:)

Maddy_lilyxx: Flyers are the people you throw in the air, bases are the people who hold the flyers in the air and spotters are the people who act as back-up for the bases (you know in cases where the flyer falls and the base is not ready to cacth then the spotters move ina and assist). If you want to make a proper squad you will need to get health insurance, for accidents and a proper coach, however to start just get a bunch of friends together and have fun with it.

Show you a list of calls for basketball?

# A defensive player must be stationary to take a charge. Reality: Once a defensive player has obtained a legal guarding position, the defensive player may always move to maintain that guarding position and may even have one or both feet off the floor when contact occurs with the offensive player. Legal guarding position occurs when the defensive player has both feet on the floor and is facing the opponent. This applies to a defensive player who is defending the dribble. # A dribble that bounces above the dribbler's head is an illegal dribble violation. Reality: There is no restriction as to how high a player may bounce the ball, provided the ball does not come to rest in the player's hand. # "Reaching in" is a foul. Reality: Reaching in is not a foul. The term is nowhere to be found in any rulebook. Why? There must be contact to have a foul. The mere act of "reaching in," by itself, is nothing. If contact does occur, it is either a holding foul or a pushing foul. # "Over the back" is a foul. Reality: Similar to the reaching in myth, there must be contact to have a foul. Coaches holler for over the back fouls when their shorter player has seemingly better inside rebounding position and the ball is snared by a taller opponent from behind. Penalize illegal contact; don't penalize a player for being tall. # If it looks funny, it must be traveling. Reality: The traveling rule is one of the most misunderstood in basketball. One of the basic tenets is that a player cannot travel unless that player is holding a live ball. A bobble or fumble is not "control" of the ball, therefore, it cannot be a traveling violation. If you immediately identify the pivot foot when a player receives the ball, you're well on your way to judging traveling correctly. # After a player has ended a dribble and fumbled the ball, that player may not recover it without violating. Reality: A dribble ends when the dribbler catches the ball with one or both hands or simultaneously touches the ball with both hands. A fumble is the accidental loss of player control when the ball unintentionally drops or slips from a player's grasp. It is always legal to recover a fumble. The rules do not penalize clumsiness. # Referees should not make calls that decide the outcome of a game. Reality: Officials do not make calls that decide the outcomes of games. Players commit fouls and violations; officials view those infractions, judge the action and then apply the rules of the game to what they have viewed. The rules then determine the penalty. The officials do not decide the outcome of the game; the players do. If the rule results in the imposition of a penalty that determines the outcome of the game, such is life. Ask yourself this: If you would have called it in the second quarter, why not call it at the end of the game? You are a credit to the game when you are consistent from the opening tip to the final buzzer.

Name something a devoted cheerleader would most certainly know about her school?

A devoted cheerleader should know just about EVERY aspect of her school. I am Senior Cheerleading captain at my school and could tell you anything about our football team. For the last four years I have followed our team as close as possible. A devoted cheerleader definitely needs to know who the athletes she cheers for are! You can not successfully cheer for your team if you do not personally know them. You should also continuously support them! Every week we make "spirit" bags for our football players. It normally includes a gift and various types of candy. Last but not least, a cheerleader should be familiar with her schools history. You never know when you are going to come across a former coach! They always want to talk about all the championships they one... etc.

However, a cheerleader also needs to remember you are not just cheering for your team! You are a cheerleader and represent your school. Therefore, you should always conduct yourself appropriately.

Why does my back leg bend when i do the splits?

Because you're not doing them properly.

The best way to get into a full split is to first straighten both legs, then concentrate on lowering yourself and stretching. A lot of dancers worry about their height and then work on straightening their legs, which makes it harder to progress and do the splits properly.
