Who was the NFL's first cheerleading squad?

That would be the Dallas Cowboys. The original cheerleading squad started back in 1960, then called the CowBelles & Beaux due to having female and male high school students in the squad. In 1969, the name was changed to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders after it became an all-female squad. in 1972, the squad's age requirement was raised to women over 18 years old, and the uniforms were redesigned to the basics of what you see today. This new-look squad first appeared in 1972, and has been a staple ever since.

Who said if cheerleading were easy it would be called football?

It's all a matter of opinion. All of the gymnast I've met that have done any kind of football training say that it does not even come close to compare to gymnastics training. You would have to do both to agree or disagree.

Saying that a gymnast can't do anything on a football field... makes no sense. Of course they couldn't, that's not their sport. Like the same way football players could not do triple back flips, they're not made for that. The point of the saying is that in general, gymnastics is a harder sport.

How much should a cheerleader weight if she's a flyer?

There are no weight restrictions in cheerleading. It is best to be in the healthy weight range for your body, but as long as your body is in shape to handle to tremendous stress this activity can put on it, it really does not matter what you weigh.

Does the ihsa count cheerleading as a sport?

oh my god yes! we do conditioning and we compete and we are in it to win it just like any other sport. not everyone can cheer--it requires skill and work. and did you know that a cheerleader is more likely to be paralized while falling out of a stunt than a football player is. the only way that there was as much force exerted on a human is when a pro-wrestler slams someone to the ground. its crazy stuff. i dare anyone who thinks it is not a sport to just TRY the CONDITIONING that we do--jumps, splits, tumbling, push ups, crunches, supermans, hollowbodies, hollowbody pikes, lifting weights, lifting people, ect, ect, ect--and if they can get through all of that and not break a sweat or complain because 'it hurts' then, sure...i guess it wouldn't be considered a sport.

Why is there competitive cheer?

It's easily as athletic as other "sports" like golf or bowling, so why not?

How many flyers on a cheer team?

the size of the flyer really all depends on the size of the base or bases, genuinely the flyer should be shorter but if she is very light that makes an difference, also if the flyer can hold his/her weight very well and stay tight that makes a HUGE difference to but usually the flyer is smaller than her supportung stunt group.

What are the advantages of being a cheerleader?

from a cheerleading squad you can learn how to get along and work with others. you aslo learn a lot of skills and you become a lot stronger. but especially the most important thing is you learn teamwork and how to be a "good sport" . alot of cheerleading squads compete and they get very strong and balanced. just try one year and see how you like it ! its great (:

How much money to be a cheerleader?

Usually nothing, it all depends on the school you go to. Some bigger universities such as Kentucky and Texas give their cheerleaders full rides for cheerleading. Smaller schools only give partial scholarships, and some don't even have that luxury. The schools dont actually "pay" you personally. They do it in form of a scholarship.
