How can a cheerleader get hurt?
Football is harder because one you get trucked, and two cheerleaders are on the side line for a reason so they don't get hurt. Football players defiantly get hurt way more. I'm not talking feelings!
if the cheerleaders arent strong enough to do the difficult stunts you can start doing a simple prep a prep is when the flyer is held by her feet a chest level by the bases and the backspot is holding her ankles lifting some weight off the bases making it easier. once u get that you can then try a cradle. when doing a cradle bases just toss the flyer in the air from a prep then cetching her in their arms and having hte backspot cetch the flyers armpits. once you can do all that then you can try to go up to an extention, meaning holding the flyer above the bases hands. a cupie is also a simple stunt. The Cupie (called an "Awesome" in some regions) is almost identical to the Full Extension except that the flyer's feet are together, in one hand of a single base or with one foot in the hands of two bases. In a partner stunt the difference between a cupie and an awesome has to do with what the male is doing with his free hand. If the free hand is on the hip then it is a cupie, if the free hand is in a high V then it's an awesome. the thigh stand is the simplest stunt in cheering. A Thigh Stand is one of the simplist stunts. The bases kneel on one leg and have their feet touching each other by the sides of their shoes. The back spot will hold the flyer at the waist. She will dip and jump onto the bases thighs.
How do you do cheerleading cartwheels?
to do a cartwheel for cheerleading, you start basically * one leg in front of the other (sort of diangonally) * hands in the air(by your head) * bend over sideways putting you hands in front of you legs and feet * kick your legs over so you ballancing on your hands this should sort of look like a handstand with your feet and legs apart * kicking your legs over and landing again on the other side of your hands * this sould go smothly and briskly sorry it was a little hard to explain if you are still having trouble id suggest getting one of the matts that are designed to teach that, they have 2 feet prints on one end 2 hand prints in the middle and 2 more feet print at the end. if you put your feet and hands where the marks are and kick over too it teaches you how too. it works for left and right handed people just depends on what side you start on. hope that helps!

How do you improve your splits in five days?
there are a few basic stretches involved to be gain the ability to do the splits. i can only do the front splits and at the moment im working on side splits. here is one everyday stretch for you to do at least twice a day. First, find a ledge that is up to about your waist(a window-sill is what i used!) and hold onto it with your left hand. Then, raise your right foot. Hold on to the arch of your foot coming from the inside leg. Make sure you have a tight hold of your foot! Then pull your leg upward keeping both legs straight. Do this with your left leg and continue to do this until your knee is touching your ear. This might take anywhere between 1-4mths depending on your age and how flexible you are when you first start off. Remember: only do this stretch when warmed up because if you do it when you're cold, you could pull ligaments or tendons in your legs. Do this stretch after a fast walk or if its raining, jog on the spot! Why spend money on stretching machines when you can easily use your muscles! I hope this information will help you to be able to do the splits! Im always happy to help!
How can you become flexiable for cheerleading?
Well first you realy don't have to be skinny. For exsample, most bases are pretty big and strong. Of corse you can't be fat but you don't have to be skinny. Second streach every day. Start of with easy things like touching your feet without bending you legs, speard your legs out and touch each toe twenty times,go as far into the splits as you can. After about a week of doing that every day you'll be able to put your palms to the ground without bending your legs, you'll be able to put your nose to each of your knees and you'll be able to do the splits. It's all a matter of time.

How do you do a hurkey in cheer-leading?
When doing a hurkey you might want to do a count of 8 and then start over you would end at 1 so it would be 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 1. so on 1 2 you should make a clasp elbows in and hands firmly together. On 3 4 you should be i a clasp fully extended above your head, but a little in front of your head. Make sure you are hollow shoulders shrugged and butt and stomach in. On 5 6 you should have hands clinging to the sides of you and in fists. 7 8 you should be in the air doing your hurkey. and on one you should be back into the hands by your side position. Now that you have the counts, the hurkeys the tricky part. So you need to practice. practice kicking one leg out to the side and then bring your feet together and then bring the other leg behind you. do that three or 4 times to stratch out your legs and get the feel of it. then start diong your counts and do both motinos at the same time. =]
I did this the first time and got it right. That was pure luck.
The way we usually do it is the eight count way. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 1. On 1 we are standing straight up with our feet together and hands at our sides. This is called set position. 1 2 are in set position. 3 4 have your hands clapped together, elbows in fingers NOT tucked together. 5 6 we do the jump and 7 8 we land. 1 we go back to set position. Remember to smile, it's contagious!

No. As collegiate athletes/club members they can not be paid. That being said, good cheerleaders at the top schools like U Kentucky are on full cheer scholarships. Other than that, the only money that cheerleaders receive (legally) is from their school/NCAA is for travel expenses and that is minimal. When they cheer for a team that makes tournament, they get a little bit more for a travel allowance as the team proceeds to the next round in each tournament.

In what other ways is cheerleading a sport?
There is some debate to whether middle school, high school, and youth league cheerleading are sports because of limited routines, and low level of skill. College cheerleaders usually are not considered a sport, even though most feel they should be. College cheerleaders are under the category of 'athletics', but aren't considered a sport, merely entertainment or marketing. All-star cheerleading (gyms that don't have a school for a sponser) is considered a sport but if you're still not sure: Ruling Reasons: * Cheerleading has it's own governing body, the USASF (United States All-star Federartion) for All-Star cheerleaders, and the UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association) for school cheerleaders. * Cheerleading is competitive, hosting competitions all over the country. From States, to Nationals, to The Cheerleading Worlds held in Walt Disney World, Florida. * ESPN considers All-Star cheering a sport and covers Worlds every year. Statistical Reasons: * 22,900: Number of children who went to emergency rooms with cheerleading injuries in 2002 * According to the National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injuries, female cheerleaders make up a whopping 50% of the catastrophic head, neck and spine injuries that are suffered specifically by female athletes. * Approximately 25,000 cheerleaders ended up in the emergency room in 2007, and the number does continually rise. Not all of these visits are serious, some are minor. * According to injury statistics reported to the National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research for the period between 1982 and 2002, the majority of catastrophic injuries to females were from cheerleading. (Most cheerleading injuries happen to females, in part because females are the ones who get thrown up in the air and because there are more female than male cheerleaders.) * Each year, more females are severely injured in cheerleading than athletes in any other sport (National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research). Athletic Reasons: * Cheerleaders work just as hard as any other athlete in practices. They condition too. * With more advanced stunts, cheerleading gets harder and harder. It isn't easy to hold someone standing on one leg above your head, or toss them up in the air, have them do a flip, and catch them. * A lot of cheerleading is tumbling, or gymnastics style moves. * On higher levels, cheerleading is pretty extreme. The stunts, complex pyramids, and advanced tumbling, not only are risky, but very strenous to the body But, the true test is what the athletes have to say. Even though they know how dangerous the sport, most athletes wouldn't give it up. Cheerleading builds confidence, and sportsmanship. Cheerleaders do things every day that most people will never do,and they do them with smiles on their faces, and bows in their hair. Cheerleading is considered a sport by all who do it, and all who see it.
What is a scorpian in Cheerleading?
A scorpion is quite hard to do because you need to do a lot of stretching and you need to be very flexible. You need to have good leg and back flexibility. Since fliers always fly on their right leg, you must learn how to do a scorpion on your left leg. Grab your left ankle with your left hand and start to pull your leg up as if doing a scale. Once your left arm is straight, reach across with your right arm and grab your ankle. You will then be in a scorpion

What do the Longhorn Cheerleaders do after a touchdown?
The Cowboys Cheerleaders are always performing during Dallas Cowboys games at AT&T Stadium, which sometimes makes it hazardous for them. For instance, during a nationally televised contest on Thanksgiving Day in 2011, Melissa Kellerman -- then a fourth-year veteran Cheerleader -- was knocked over on the sidelines by Cowboys tight end Jason Witten after he caught a pass. She did not see him coming because she had her back to him at the time. She was unhurt, but perhaps a little embarrassed by the incident.
