A ceiling fan is a type of propeller and also a mixer. The fan is usually composed of flat blades which are attached to an electric motor. The motor,most commonly, has several speeds and can often be operated in a clockwise direction or counter clockwise direction. A ceiling fan operating by itself blowing air down will provide some relief on a hot day. A ceiling fan operaing in conjunction with an air condintioner will reduce the run time of the AC unit and allow higher temperatures to be set because moving air is "cooler" than still air.

Make sure your fan switch has an 'off' position, as some vehicles have 'low, med, and high' while 'off' is actually on the position selector...which you have to select, in these cases, to shut the fan off. In most vehicles, air will travel through the heat/vent ducts into the vehicle while driving. The movement of the vehicle forces air inside this way, even if the fan is off. HOWEVER, the selector switch would most likely have to be in the 'heat' or 'floor' position in order for air to go to the floor. If your fan switch DOES have an off position, then it is likely your vents haven't closed off the outside air. The selector may have an 'off' position which will close the air inlet and block the air from entering the vehicle.
For 2.2L 4 cylinder push rod engine.
Turn bolt on pulley tensioner clockwise with 15mm wrench.
Remove pulley belt.
Disconnect battery.
Remover main electrical connector from alternator.
Remove one wire electrical connector from alternator.
Remove 3 or 4 bolts from alternator.
Reverse order for installation.

You may want to check the MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) located on the fire wall. There should be two rubber lines coming from it. Located just on the passenger side of the center. the temp sensor could also be the problem. its located near the thermostat. when the sensor is bad the computer is reading the temp as negative 40 degrees. its a little cheaper than a map sensor.
