Well yes. Sugared gum contains sugar, which stays on your teeth after you've finished chewing it. And if you don't brush your teeth for a while after eating the sugary gum, it can start to do harm to your teeth, such as starting cavities.

It can to a certain extent, but not very effectively. The problem is that the sugar will still dissolve out of the gum pretty fast, so the key is to slow the dissolving of the sugar by means of chemically altering or coating it.

but if you are talking to people older than you, then i'd suggest you do not chew gum (too loudly)... :)

Typically gum chewers don't dispose of gum in paper in a trash can. They tend to put gum on or under seats, desks, floors, on walls, in peoples hair and generally all over the place. Those dark circular-like spots you see on sidewalks and parking lots, etc are all gum. It is icky and disgusting to step in it and to have to look at it and schools don't want to have to pay someone to clean gum that students discard everywhere.

Yes. It's basically a combination of gum base, glycerin, and sugar along with water. You can buy the gum base and the glycerin from a craft shop that sells candy-making supplies.

It is suppose to relax your brain and eases stress. When you are chewing gum, you brain focuses on the chewing more than anything else. That is why it is not recommended to chew gum when you are studying.

Well, if you drink water or something while your chewing it then the water will juice the flavor. That's how you make gum last long. :)

For chewing the food the jaws are in action for a long time and so get tired.

Teachers don't like that, I can tell you. It's also disturbing to the other classmates when you're chewing with your mouth open, because you normally spit on someone else's face when you talk to them.

It's okay to chew gum in Singapore. There is no punishment. Although there is a punishment for spitting gum on the floor. There is also a punishment for sticking your gum anywhere. You have to pay a fine. If you want to chew gum, spit it out into a piece of tissue and throw it into a rubbish bin. BTW: It's illegal to sell gum in Singapore.
