No, Clutch is not a Christian band. However, they do have many references to Christian beliefs. Clutch is often described as a thinking person's metal band, so it's fitting that it gives listeners plenty to debate on Blast Tyrant. Hard-core devotees spent much of last year arguing whether or not the release was meant to be a concept album, which is no shock considering characters surface repeatedly, religion is a common denominator, and songs cross-reference each other.
But in a nutshell, no. They are not a Christian band.

Can a christian listen to pop music?
First of all, it depends on what you consider "worldly" songs. Currently, there are Christians who make "Christian music," there are Christians who make "secular music." There are secular (aka "mainstream") artists who produce decidedly non-Christian music. And then there are secular artists making music that makes you think maybe they're Christian, but you're just not sure... The lines have become increasingly blurred as individuals who have a faith in Christ have at times achieved mainstream success. And individuals in the secular world create music that is full of positive messages. Nowadays it's best to look at each artist on a case-by-case basis... to determine which music to listen to based on lyrical content as opposed to whether or not they've been labeled "Christian" or "secular."
So can a Christian listen to music that is typically classified as "secular?" The Bible says that while everything is permissible, not everything is beneficial. (I Corinthians 10:23) So technically, they can. But should they?
Each person's relationship with God is different. We're all at different places on the one road that leads to holiness. My suggestion is that you pray about it, listen to God with an open mind and an open heart, and then choose carefully what music you should listen to.
If you find that listening to a certain type of music is drawing you farther away from your Creator, or damaging your relationship with Him, then the decision is easy.
The priority should be to draw closer to God. Strengthen your relationship with him, and the outcome will no doubt be positive. The more plugged in you are to Jesus, the more likely you are to make better decisions with regard to which music to listen to, which movies to watch, which friends to hang out with, etc.
