If you read the first book of Narnia, The Magician's Nephew, you would find out that Jadis, the white witch, was from another land not in Narnia. The main characters go to that land and see that she destroyed it. Because her sister got the throne and not her. But when Polly and Digory, the main characters, went to Narnia, Jadis tagged along. And she wanted power over all of Narnia so she could finally be royal./ She wanted it for the wrong reason, and Aslan knew that. He was the true king of Narnia. He made it himself. But he still treated his people as if they were himself. Jadis treats everyone like servants. She wanted to be the highest of them all. and that is why she didn't have a claim to the throne.

At first he was going to steal an apple to save her, because the witch tempted him. But he resisted and said no. After giving the apple to Aslan, he used it to plant a tree to protect Narnia. From that tree grew apples and Aslan gave one of those to Digory. Unlike the original apples, it would not provide eternal life, butit did heal his mother when he gave it to her.

The White Witch gave Edmund a rose flavored candy called Turkish Delight. She enchanted it to make him crave more, to help ensure that he returned to her in Narnia.

It really symbolizes sin because the witch equals the Devil, and the treat was so good and tempting. Because he wanted it so much it caused him to betray his siblings and make foolish decisions. And in the end it turned out to be false happiness, because when he asked for more, the witch imprisoned him and gave him no more treat.

Lucy and Susan thought Aslan was a ghost when they first saw him again after the stone table had split into two. They were initially shocked and confused by his appearance, mistaking him for a spirit haunting the area.
