Is corn syrup hypertonic or hypotonic?
Corn syrup is a hypertonic solution because cells are moving out instead of in, and the cell is shrinking.
What is the chemical formula for high fructose corn syrup?
High Fructose Corn Syrup, or HFCS is a synthetic monosaccharide. It is 55% fructose and 45% glucose. The obvious carbohydrate is the fructose. The molecular structure of fructose is as follows:
C6H12O6 is the chemical composition of glucose

The above information is provided by the CRA, Corn Refiners Association, that makes corn syrup. Therefore this is biased information.
When you put a egg in corn syrup how does it become osmosis?
out from the egg draining into the water. the egg was weak and too yellowish that u could even see the yolk. Hope this helped.
Where does corn syrup come from?
Corn syrup comes from converting the starch in a kernel of corn into simple sugars, primarily glucose.
Can you use pancake syrup as corn syrup?
no because on Sunday we baked cookiesdidnt have any vannila so we used maple syrup and every singel cookie was burnt so don't use it ok :)
Why does hot sugar syrup turn hard when cooled?
it loses it moisture, use a orange peel to keep it fresh, or bread
What country makes the most corn syrup?
The United States. We have more corn than almost all other nations combined. Corn capitol of the universe!
Unfortunately, food producers discovered that corn syrup was cheaper than good ole' honest sugar, and so they started putting high-fructose corn syrup in our food. I mean, they put it in almost EVERYTHING. It's considerably difficult to find something that does NOT have high fructose corn syrup in it. It's not really good for you, and very fattening. They fatten us all up like a herd of cattle, and then they start screeching about how we're all obese. Maybe if they'd start producing REAL FOOD again, the way they used to...
Why does Syrup settles to bottom?
Sirup sinks in water because it is denser. Liquid of higher density always sinks in liquid of lower desity.
What is the answer to this in a liquid mixture with water and corn syrup?
A barrier-type wall is formed in between the two. This is because one of the ends of the oil cell is hydrophobic, thus preventing it from mixing with the water.
What is the conductivity of high fructose corn syrup?
0.30 - 0.64 S m-1 (average) for thick corn syrup (1:1 cornflour & water heated to a jelly), conductivity increases as water is added.
Can you replace corn syrup with vegetable glycerin?
It depends on the recipe and what the intended outcome needs to be. Glycerin (vegetable for food use) provides more elasticity and helps the food substance to retain moisture so that it does not begin to crackle and/or flake. For example, if you are making an icing for a cake, and the recipe requires glycerin (vegetable, of course), then you should not substitute corn syrup, otherwise you could end up with a icing that looks like a dried mud flat out in some desert. Corn syrup is a glucose based concoction and is high in caloric content as well. Glycerin is low in caloric content, provides elasticity, and retains moisture.
Is all corn syrup high fructose corn syrup?
High fuctose corn syrup (AKA corn sugar), is considered a trans fat. Just so you know, the commercials on TV about HFCS not being all that bad is not true. It may have as many calories as sugar, but in case you didn't know, it is used to fatten chicken livers for slautering. I don't eat anything with high fructose corn syrup in it. If you read an ingridients list, anything with HFCS in the first half of the list is no good, the bottom half is O.K. I go to Trader Joe's. They have all natural, organic foods. Plus, you can get HEALTHY sweet snacks there. SORRY FOR MESSIN UP UR BRAIN WITH ALL THIS HEALTHY TALK!
Does mike's hard lemonade have high fructose corn syrup in it?
it contains no caffeine the ingredients that i came up with are 90 mg sodium, 55 carbohydrates, and 32 grams of suger per 11.2 oz so a lot of suger but im glad there is at least one higher percent malt beverage that doesn't contain a ridiculous amount of caffeine
How do you convert corn syrup solids into syrup?
What is the state of matter of corn syrup?
It is a liguid because it is not hard or frozen and it is not a gas because you can see it and you can't see gas so it is a liquid because it is all liquidy and it is smooth and not frozen and not invisible.
Corn sugar algae and sewage can be used as fuel for engines. These are all examples of?
Corn, sugar, algae, and sewage are all examples of biomass, which refers to organic materials that can be used as a source of energy. Biomass can be converted into biofuels, offering renewable alternatives to fossil fuels. Utilizing these materials helps reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions while providing a sustainable energy source.
Why does water float on corn syrup?
Water floats on corn syrup because it is less dense than corn syrup. If you want a more complete understanding look below:
Let us imagine a small volume element of water(lets assume it to be a sphere) with a volume of 1 cm^3. If you place this sphere of water in corn syrup there are two forces acting on it: the force of gravity and the bouyant force.
The force of gravity of the sphere of water = mass*g where g is the acceleration due to gravitythe mass of the sphere is equal to the density of water times the volume(which we set before to be equal to 1 cm^3.
The bouyant force as described by Archimedes is equal to the opposite of the force exerted by the force of gravity on a similar volume element of the surrounding substance. This is more easily understood as:Fb=(mass of displaced fluid)*gFb=(density of corn syrup)*volume*gFb=(density of corn syrup)*(1cm^3)*g
So the force up on the volume element of water is equal to Fb where the force down is equal to the force of weight due to gravity. In this example we can see that the force up is greater because:
Fb/Fg=(density of corn syrup)/(density of water) > 1 because the density of corn syrup is greater than the density of water. Therefore there is a larger force up than downwards which is why water when placed in corn syrup will move upwards.
Hope that helps.
Would ice float higher in water or corn syrup?
Firstly there is no such thing as floating higher; something either floats or it doesn't. Buoyancy (pronounced boy-an-see) on the other hand, describes the ability or tendency of an object to float in a liquid.
Objects float in a liquid when they are less dense than the liquid. For example an ice cube will float in both water and corn syrup because it is less dense than both. The ice cube will have greater buoyancy in corn syrup because corn syrup is more dense than water.

It starts to diffuse to lighter color. :)
What is the E number for corn syrup?
Fructose as an ingredient has no E-number.
Fructose as such is a food ingredient, should be stated in the right position in the ingredient listing as "fructose" and nothing else.
A food ingredient used for a technical purpose must be stated in the listing, but you are not allowed to state any function. The same goes with ingredients like "Zein" ( Maize protein) and potato starch etc.
Does rum have corn syrup in it?
If it is good rum distilled from sugar cane, it shouldn't have corn syrup in it. However, some rums such as coconut rum or other fruit flavored rums may have corn syrup in it. The only way to find out is to contact the maker or manufacturer and ask. In the US. the Food and Drug Administration does not require alcohol to list ingredients on the label because these are not under their jurisdiction because they are neither foods nor drugs. I have had to call up manufacturers and ask the corn syrup question because I am allergic to corn syrup. Good luck. It's not easy to find out specifics on alcohols.
