A crib gym is a type of baby play gym designed for infants to use while lying in their crib. It typically features hanging toys, mirrors, and other sensory elements to engage a baby's sight and touch, encouraging them to reach, grasp, and explore. Crib gyms can promote motor skills development and visual tracking as babies interact with the toys above them. They provide a safe and stimulating environment for play and exploration during an infant's early months.

B.F. Skinner developed an air crib to help his wife with the care of their second child. The air crib was a temperature-controlled environment, where the baby didn't need to have a blanket or heavy clothing, but could lie with just a diaper on in a temperature- and humidity-controlled box. The box was large enough to allow the baby to move around freely. Skinner believed that the baby would be more mobile and more comfortable, and therefore less prone to cry.
Some companies manufactured different versions of the air crib, which met with varied success.
