What if the stitches match the gauge but not the number of rows?

This mean that the width of your gauge is correct but the length is off. Now whether this matters or not depends on the item you are making and also the pattern. If you are making something where the pattern specifies (for example) to cast on 60 stitches and knit for 3 inches, you should be okay because you can just match the length you need to knit for. If it is specifying a number of specific rows to be knit it can get more complicated.

That said, in something like a sweater this can matter much more than in something like a purse where an exact size is not necessarily as important. Also, you have to be more careful about how much yarn you need for the project, you may need more or less if your gauge is slightly off.

Which one is bigger a crochet or a quaver?

In terms of length, a crotchet receives one beat and a quaver receives 1/2 a beat.

What is interweave knitting?

Interweave knitting is also known as Afghan stitches or Tunisian Crochet. It is a way of crocheting using one hook and adapted knitting techniques. The finished fabric you create looks as if it has been knitted, but in fact has been crocheted. There are many stitches and patterns to bring about very unique fabrics.

How long does the first string of crochet need to be to make a blanket?

That depends on the size of your blanket.

Baby's Crib sized = 30 inches x 36 inches

Baby's Square Blankie = 36 inches x 36 inches

Children/Toddler Bed Size = 42 inches x 48 inches

Children/Toddler "carry" size = 30 inches x 48 inches

Adult Afghan (Twin bed size) = 48 inches x 75 inches

Full/Double Size Bed = 54 inches x 75 inches to cover the 'top'

Queen Size Bed = 60 inches x 80 inches to cover the 'top'

King Size Bed = 78 inches x 80 inches to cover the 'top'

If you want the blanket to drape over the 'top' edges of the bed you will need to make a bit larger. Don't forget to add a border!

What is the hardest stitch in crochet?

What one crocheter finds difficult, another person might find easy, so it is hard to say which would be the most difficult stitch to work for you personally.

The hardest stitch is probably the first one you learn after the chain stitch, usually either single or double crochet. The stitch itself isn't hard, but it is awkward at first learning something new. Once you know the chain, single and double crochet, half doubles, trebles and all the variations beyond the treble come easily because they are so similar to the single and double crochet.

As with knitting, it isn't the actual stitch that brings an opportunity for life-long study of crochet, but the infinite number of ways those stitches can be combined and manipulated. Bobbles and clusters, working around posts, reaching to stitches in rows below, twisting, picots...all of these are simply manipulations of the three basic stitches (chain, single crochet and double crochet).

Addition to first answer:

A good answer, but -- I once surveyed 12 crochet experts on this exact question, and they all said the bullion stitch.

When knitting after you have cast on when it comes time to knit the slip knot do you knit it or does it stay on your left needle Or do you knit it over to the right needle?

When you reach the slip knot, knit it just like all of the other stitches, throwing it off at the end just like the other stitches. When you have knit the slip knot, all of the stitches should be on the right needle, and the left needle should be completely free*.

*There may be some exceptions to this rule, as in circular knitting, but this will not be addressed until you are an advanced knitter, and you don't have to worry about that right now.

Can you sell an item if you give credit to the crochet pattern designer?

it depends on what is stated in the pattern. sometimes a designer will say make all you want for yourself, but do not sell your work to others.

**********

The designer (or publisher if rights were sold) holds copyright on his or her pattern. They decide what is done with the pattern. This applies to patterns you buy and patterns that are free. Some will give permissions on the pattern or on their web site. Others you may have to write and ask for permission. Still others may say they do not allow for profit sales using their patterns but may allow sales for charity efforts. Some will allow single sales, but not multiple sales. As noted above, it just depends. If in doubt, ask.

The pattern itself is never to be sold with an item or shared anywhere without permission from the designer.

A hank of yarn is a ring of yarn. This ring is generally then twisted on itself, and one end pulled through the opposite end, to create a shape like a braid.
