TPS (throttle positioning sensor) Haynes manual calls it the throttle valve control i believe. take it off and clean it inside and out or just buy a new one for like $20-$30. 9 times out of 10 it is the TPS

could be a million reasons. ranging from bad fuel, vacuum lines not connected, plugged up fuel filter, bad/dirty carb.

A '79 datsun pick up would have came with a 2.0L L20B engine.

there is no such thing as an exhaust coil. the ignition coil is the cylinder shaped thing that has a spark plug wire running to the center of the distributor cap

The Datsun 280z never had a 3200 engine. I don't think Nissan ever has had a 3200 engine. Maybe in one of the newer maxima's or something. The closet thing would be a 3000 engine from a 300zx but it did not come stock that way. Someone would have motor swap it. It came with a 2800 motor

All 1984-1986 300ZX models sold in the US had a voice warning system. Only the SF model (sold in Canada) did not have it. Most often, the voice no longer works because the aftermarket stereo was installed improperly and they bypassed the original voice unit. The voice unit is located above and behind the ECU in the passenger side kick panel. The sound ONLY comes out the front driver side speaker. To reactivate a bypassed voice, run the left front speaker wire to the two voice unit inputs. Then run the two outputs to the front left speaker.

When the voice is activated, the voice unit cuts the signal from the stereo and inserts it's own sound to the speaker.

The ONLY things it says are:

Left door is open.

Right door is open.

Parking break is on.

Lights are on. (saved me more than once)

Fuel level is low.

1-5-3-6-2-4. that's the order of the cylinders and the order you put the wires on the distributor cap

have 3 people is the easiest way. 1 person pumping the clutch. 1 person watching the slave cylinder for air bubbles. and the 3rd person keep attaching and detaching line to the master cylinder. have the line connected, pump for 10-15 times. then pull the line off, brake fluid will leak (normal) then pump the clutch 5-6 times then reattach the line to the slave cylinder. keep repeating until no more air bubble come up through the master cylinder and the clutch gets stiffer. this usually takes around 15 or 20 minutes with constant work

The datsun had 5 gears...but gear #1 started in the down position with #2 directly above, then #3 down, #4 up and finally #5 all the way to the right and down. Reverse was to the left and up, above where 1st gear was.

Yup. You need a 5- speed from a 2L roadster and the driveshaft. And the transmission support.

The only modification to the car is to cut the tunnel to allow the gearshift to sit slightly forward-

on 68 and later cars, it's already dimpled.

The motor has to come out, as the transmission sits on the x- brace of the frame.

Buy a performance chip. Very simple to install and pretty cheap. Can add 40 horsepower sometimes.
