The engine-Other than an increase in displacement to 2188cc the Z22E engines used in 1982 and 1983 models remains basically the same as the Z20E engine in terms of the design, then there's Engine/Serial/Number/ engine/model L28E and stamped on right/hand side of the cylinder block! Hi, according to my manual, the firing order is the same for each of these model years for the 280zx. 1979,1980,1981 and 1982. The firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. The black terminal on the distributer cap is is the #1 spark plug. Then going counter clockwise you should be able to find each plug wire that leads to the # plug you are looking for.
