Can we stop deforestation?

Yes, if people stop cutting down trees for making paper, furniture, etc. we could stop it, yet it may not happen because trees are needed to make paper and paper will always be needed.

Another idea is replanting. If we replant more trees than we cut down, even though it takes a long time for them to mature, in time we would have a sustainable amount to harvest each year. It would take a lot of land and a lot of dedication and time, but replanting is a good way to renew the trees that we are using.

What are some of the logging companies?

Swan River Logging Company and Malaysian logging companies are examples of the logging countries.

Why is deforestation rate higher in developing countries than in developed?

First, that's "severe" problem..

The rest of a partial answer is, (1) rain forest plants are the main contributors to the biosphere's Oxygen-Carbon Dioxide cleanup / renewal cycle, so deforestation results in a decrease in available oxygen, an increase in carbon dioxide, & a rise in temperature for the biosphere (global warming). Then (2), forest floors are not particularly high in nutrients because decomposition occurs more slowly there, in the deep shade & with less rain getting there thru the tree tops, so there are far fewer plant roots to hold what is on the forest floor. (3) Deforestation removes foods for birds, animals, & humans, resulting in species reduction & / or extinction. (4) Deforestation removes plant medicines, which affects the health of animals & humans alike. (5) Deforestation results in gross unbalancing of a previously balanced bio-system, with unpredictable additional problems, since humans do not "know everything" in the first place, including what was in the area they deforested.

What are the dangers of cutting down trees and solution to this problem?

The dangers of cutting down trees is that in future there will be no oxygen and together with soil erosion. The soluion is to stop cutting down trees or harvest trees responsibly by planting others in the place of ones cut down with mixed growth rates and oxygen production.

How were trees cut down in the old days?

like did they just knock it down and create tools with their bear hands?

Effects of overpopulation in the philippines?

Overpopulation refers to excessive population of an area to the point of overcrowding and depletion of resources. Some of its effects in the Philippines are: shortage on food and water, insufficient housing, health problems, unemployment and deterioration of the environment.

What problem is caused when trees are cut down faster then they can grow back?

Deforestation is caused which means that they are being cleared faster than they can grow back.

Are the animals in the Amazon able to adapt to the deforestation?

The Amazon is still one of the regions being deforested most rapidly. The primary cause is cattle ranching, though this cattle is generally for domestic use. Soy beans are also a major cause, requiring land to grow.

What do effects of deforestation on next generation?

IT MAY HAVE AN ADVERSE EFFECT ON THEIR HEALTH. may be it may lead the world to an end.

What is the different between logging and water pollution?

Basically, the main problem with logging is increased erosion and sedimentation, or the washing of soils into streams and rivers. When there is rainfall, trees help control infiltration of the rain into the ground, absorbing much of the water into the canopy and controlling the rate at which the remaining rain reaches the ground. The roots of the trees and other vegetation also help stabilize the soil, preventing excessive washing of topsoil into adjacent streams. But when an area is logged, these protective features are diminished or lost, allowing soil to be washed into the streams at accelerated rates. This is a problem because excessive soil in streams chokes out streams, destroys habitat, smothers aquatic communities, and increases the risk of uncontrolled flooding, among other effects.

The worst type of logging is clear cutting, wherein a whole stand of trees is removed, clearing a wide area. Rain can fall on these areas and mobilize tons of soil in a heavy storm. But even selective, light logging can be a problem if logging roads have to be cut into the forest, since it is know that logging roads alone can lead to serious erosion problems.

There are some engineering solutions that can help mitigate soil erosion from logging. But in the quest to tame nature through engineering, I would bet on nature in the long run.

How long has deforestation been happening in the Amazon Rainforest?

As far as I know, the earliest deforestation caused by humans was in Australia about 40,000 years ago. So it has been going on for a long time.

Why is logging controversial?

ORIGINAL ENTRY: "logging is bad, but there are certain types of logging styles that can be even worst. For example, clear cutting can be bad if it is done in large areas. Clear cutting can cause the land to erode quicker and disturbs the wildlife. However, todays methods of sustainable logging is bad for the forests, the wildlife. I HAVE ENCLOSED A PICTURE OF ONE OF THEM......"

What did the Iroquois use to cut down trees?

Fire. This was accomplished by coating thick layers of mud and straw at about head-height on the tree's trunk, and then setting a contained fire to the base of the tree. The straw helped to texturize the mud so that it wouldn't fall apart, while mud's abundance of moisture dampened the straw so as to prevent it from catching fire. The result was a clean-fallen tree.

What will happen if trees are removed from an ecosystem?

Well, first off, it's not gonna happen, so don't worry about that. Trees, or more accurately, the photosynthesis they carry out, convert carbon dioxide to oxygen. It might sound odd, but yes, trees and plants breathe IN what YOU breathe OUT. Every time you exhale, you give a tree or a plant the breathe of life. Trees are not the only providers of oxygen, but they certainly help. River also provide oxygen. They depend on us. We depend on them.Luckily, they can be renewed (planted from seeds) and grow almost anywhere. There are more trees in North America (AMAZON) now than there were in 1492.

How can Forest Fires be prevented?

The simplest way to prevent dangerous forest fires is to have smaller fires on an annual basis, to remove dead grass and brush. Unfortunately this is not always possible near populated areas, especially if there is a chance of unintentional escalation of the burn.

Prevention includes controlling heated materials during especially dry periods. Open fires may be prohibited. Where allowed, campfires must be thoroughly extinguished and dry material cleared back from around the site. Matches, smoking materials, and ashes from ashtrays should not be carelessly disposed of. Vehicles, with their hot exhaust pipes, should not drive through dry grass.

What is the result for cutting down trees?

they use it for stuff like paper and blablablabla but its dead soo that means it cant prduce air

Is it illegal to cut down trees in the forest?

Illegal and predatory logging plays a central role in the destruction of the Amazon. It is now generally accepted that illegal logging is the norm, rather than the exception in the Brazilian Amazon. Between 60 and 80 percent of all logging in the Brazilian Amazon is estimated to be illegal.

What are the Ways to overcome deforestation?

cut the down the mature trees,

dont kill baby trees and for every that is lost, plant another one as replacement

reforestation

awareness abouts hazards caused deforestation

bY DEEPAK KUMAR SONWANI

Why deforestation happen?

As us humans cut down forests for housing and to build cities and cut down trees to spent on paper, fuel etc...and as we grow in population (for space) and clear to make land to grow crops but there is also natural factos like forest fires, we may be able to replant trees to replace them, but at what rate ?

What is the connection between poverty population growth and deforestation?

Poverty often drives population growth in developing regions, as families may have more children to secure labor and support in old age. This increased population can lead to greater demand for land, food, and resources, resulting in deforestation as forests are cleared for agriculture, settlement, and logging. Additionally, impoverished communities may rely on forest resources for survival, further exacerbating deforestation. Thus, the cycle of poverty, population growth, and environmental degradation is interconnected.

How much trees cut per day?

primary forest area was reduced globally by 60,000 square km per year (about the size of Ireland). While it's impossible to get an exact count, at a rate of 50K to 100K trees per square km, this equates to 3 to 6 billion trees per year.

Do trees make paper?

no really, it comes floating down form the heavens......yes it does from the pulp which i think is the trees inners
