Can you smoke weed a week after 4 wisdom teeth removal?

It's advised that you don't smoke cigarettes or anything of the sort, because of possible infection or "dry socket" issues. However, after 3 days or so, it should be okay.

(I mention this from a medical science standpoint...barring any local laws that may prohibit smoking marijuana, of course.)

Should you visit the dentist if you get a tooth abscess?

I do believe that you need to see a dentist and not an orthodontist regarding a tooth abscess. If anything, the dentist would treat it or if need be, refer you to a specialist.

Who was the first black dentist in the UK?

It is widely thought that the first black dentist in the UK was Edward Tull Warnock. He practiced in Scotland in Aberdeen, Girvan and Glasgow. He qualified with his L.D.S. (Glasgow) in 1910. Why is it recommended to wait 48 hours after tooth extraction to smoke?

I did a lot of research on this and found many different answers all over the net. They ranged from 2 days to 2 weeks. One site I found even suggested that you use the extraction as an excuse to quit smoking all together. But if that is not an option for you, the general consensus was that you should wait a bare minimum of 48 hours after the extraction before having a cigarette. The longer you wait to have one seems to be directly related to your individual healing time. The chemicals they contain and even the sucking action performed may cause damage to the blood clot which is forming in the place where your tooth used to be. If you loose this blood clot you might get something called dry socket which is extremely painful and to be avoided if at all possible. Evidently the first 24 to 48 hours after the tooth is removed is the most crucial in your mouths recovery. The blood clot needs to be protected. Also NO HOT FOODS OR DRINKS for the first 24 hours. NO SNEEZING with your mouth open. NO SPITTING or RINSING for the first day, as this may dislodge the clot. On the second day start gently rinsing with salt water 3 to 5 times a day. Avoid crunchy food.

Anything from your dentist is certainly going to be a lot better than a supermarket product. I'd recommend speaking to your dentist and seeing what they recommend and can set you up with.

What oral surgeons do free dental work?

Is it okay not to brush your teeth after wisdom tooth removal?

It's OK so long as you haven't eaten. If you're eating, take care that you rinse and remove any remnants of food because if these get into the wound it may not heal properly or become infected. Brushing is never a bad idea, just be very careful if you do so!

How much weight can be lost from wisdom teeth removal?

I would assume you would lose a small amount of weight. They suggest soft foods and/or clear liquids for 2-7 days after surgery. The pain and swelling also limit the amount of food you may want to eat. Whatever weight that is lost will most likely be regained once normal eating habits begin.

Can you get sick from going to the Dentist?

I would say yes if they are not wearing gloves, masks or the tools are not clean enough but you know you can get sick anywhere just from the door knobs of bathrooms anything really. It is always best to just wash your hands a lot and keep them out of your eyes. Not knowing what illness you are referring to it is hard to be specific but if you mean the common cold I would'nt get too worried as you can get this anywhere!!

Can you die from dental surgery?

From the procedure it's self? It is very unlikely. However, there are certain risks to be taken into account depending on the anesthesia used... Any type of general Anesthesia has a small chance of causing heart failure, resulting in death. The practitioner has to warn you about this, and all other possibilities/outcomes from the procedure. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you're worried about something. *queue cheesy music* THE MORE YOU KNOW....

Yes, it is 'possible' but extremely unlikely. All the common complications associated with wisdom teeth extractions are well known and well managed by competent practitioners. Tooth extraction is one of the most common surgeries and it is one of the safest. Millions of procedures are performed every year with almost no fatalities.

Your best option is to discuss your concerns with a qualified and experienced oral surgeon. He/she can discuss the realities of this surgery better than anyone. I heard a boxer who died because of complications from it. he had his extraction prior to his fight. he got beaten up really good. his jaw swell enormously, and he got an extreme fever but he ignored it. it was too late before they got him on the hospital.

What do you need to study to become an orthodontist?

The following is written by and according to the U.S. Department of Labor and particular to the education and training required for dentists.

All 50 States and the District of Columbia require dentists to be licensed. To qualify for a license in most States, candidates must graduate from an accredited dental school and pass written and practical examinations.

Education and training. In 2008, there were 57 dental schools in the United States accredited by the American Dental Association's (ADA's) Commission on Dental Accreditation. Dental schools require a minimum of 2 years of college-level predental education prior to admittance. Most dental students have at least a bachelor's degree before entering dental school, although a few applicants are accepted to dental school after 2 or 3 years of college and complete their bachelor's degree while attending dental school. According to the ADA, 85 percent of dental students had a bachelor's degree prior to beginning their dental program in the 2006-07 academic year.

High school and college students who want to become dentists should take courses in biology, chemistry, physics, health, and mathematics. College undergraduates planning on applying to dental school are required to take many science courses. Because of this, some choose a major in a science, such as biology or chemistry, whereas others take the required science coursework while pursuing a major in another subject.

All dental schools require applicants to take the Dental Admissions Test (DAT). When selecting students, schools consider scores earned on the DAT, applicants' grade point averages, and information gathered through recommendations and interviews. Competition for admission to dental school is keen.

Dental school usually lasts 4 academic years. Studies begin with classroom instruction and laboratory work in science, including anatomy, microbiology, biochemistry, and physiology. Beginning courses in clinical sciences, including laboratory techniques, are also completed. During the last 2 years, students treat patients, usually in dental clinics, under the supervision of licensed dentists. Most dental schools award the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). Others award an equivalent degree, Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).

Licensure. Licensing is required to practice as a dentist. In most States, licensure requires passing written and practical examinations in addition to having a degree from an accredited dental school. Candidates may fulfill the written part of the State licensing requirements by passing the National Board Dental Examinations. Individual States or regional testing agencies administer the written or practical examinations.

Individuals can be licensed to practice any of the 9 recognized specialties in all 50 States and the District of Columbia. Requirements include 2 to 4 years of postgraduate education and, in some cases, the completion of a special State examination. A postgraduate residency term also may be required, usually lasting up to 2 years. Most State licenses permit dentists to engage in both general and specialized practice.

Other qualifications. Dentistry requires diagnostic ability and manual skills. Dentists should have good visual memory; excellent judgment regarding space, shape, and color; a high degree of manual dexterity; and scientific ability. Good business sense, self-discipline, and good communication skills are helpful for success in private practice.

Advancement. Dentists and aspiring dentists who want to teach or conduct research full time usually spend an additional 2 to 5 years in advanced dental training, in programs operated by dental schools or hospitals. Many private practitioners also teach part time, including supervising students in dental school clinics.

Some dental school graduates work for established dentists as associates for 1 to 2 years to gain experience and save money to equip an office of their own. Most dental school graduates, however, purchase an established practice or open a new one immediately after graduation.

Should you go to sleep when having wisdom teeth pulled?

Well I am not a doctor or dentist but I had four wisdom teeth removed 5 days ago by an oral surgeon and I was "put to sleep" The process took less than an hour and I was fine. With any anesthesia there can be risk involved. Go to your oral surgeon for a consultation and they can review those with you.

Will crest white strips remove white spots on your teeth?

There is no guarantee. The crest white strips will certainly help whiten teeth. Some people claim having excellent results in getting rid of white spots on teeth while others do not. In general, this is a good teeth whitening solution.

Can you obtain a dental hygiene job if you have genital herpes?

I suppose it's possible, if they don't then you can try suing for discrimination.

Herpes isn't passed on that easily, it's also not passed through blood or body fluids.

If people with cold sores (which are caused by oral herpes, they are also very common to have) are allowed to work in medicine then people with genital herpes should be allowed to as well.
Of course! Consider that 30% of adults have genital herpes and 80% of adults have antiboties to type I herpes; who'd be left to handle medical care if people with herpes had to leave the field?
No.
You would have to ask some one where you're applying if they do any testing. Herpes shouldn't affect your position, it's not passed through objects or just touching people. As long as break outs are being controlled then having herpes shouldn't hold you back.
First you need to define Herpes

Herpes Simplex =cold sores, herpes Zoster =chicken Pox

I could go on
Yes they can.

Can having your wisdom teeth taking out cause a late period?

Absolutely! Stress is one of the biggest causes of a late period, and nearly everyone stresses about their upcoming wisdom teeth removal appointments as well as the healing period. (Fear of dry socketing, etc.) Don't worry! Just relax and you'll be fine. I completely skipped a period when I had my wisdom teeth removed and it just came the next month instead. :)

Can you smoke weed after you get your wisdom teeth pulled out?

I had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled out seven days ago. I've been smoking weed and cigarettes for years, and this little procedure has totally turned me into a hypochondriac. I haven't had any cigarettes out of fear of dry socket, but I have been smoking up every day since my surgery. Basically, don't roll j's or bl*nts, don't use a water pipe unless someone will assist you (pulling air through all that water creates too much negative pressure in my point of view); just use a small pipe and pull very gently. Exhale through your nose and drink lots of water. Weed causes cotton mouth so drink some more. Lots of water. Then, like eating, rinse for a few minutes (also gently) with warm salt water just for good measure. I've been freaking out every day since, but seem to be okay. *knocks on wood. And 7 days later, fyi, it's become more of a discomfort than a pain. When it does randomly become painful, I've noticed another warm salt water rinse actually seems to help. Last tip, as this one's the best I've come by online: The salt water rinses are for killing bacteria, pulling blood to the area to facilitate healing, but the rinses do a lame job actually getting food dislodged from the holes. I'm too lazy to hit up CVS for one of those irrigator things, so I cut a small slit in the corner of a ziplock bag, fill it with water, and it pours out in a nice little stream from the hole. Point that little stream right at each of the holes to get food out and it works like a charm. Smoke up, just be gentle and facilitate your healing as you do it. Rinse every time you consume something other than water, as well as first and last thing you do in the day, and you should be good. Just be gentle about it, too much swishing in your mouth can cause dry socket. So can spitting, too, so you'll have to let it just drain out. Hope this helps. Good luck.

What do you do if you get an infection after your wisdom are out?

Contact your dentist at once. They will recommend a course of treatment that may include anti-biotic. Do this NOW. That can be a serious infection.

Does flossing help make your teeth white?

I guess if your teeth are really yellow, then brushing your teeth with whitening toothpaste (it says it on the label don't worry) like Colgate, then it would gradually change colour, but don't expect it to happen all at once.
