What is the medical term meaning return of swallowed food into the mouth?

Depending on the force of the return, this occurrence could be considered regurgitation or vomiting. If the food in the mouth is not forced out of the mouth, perhaps leaves a bitter taste in the back of the throat or heartburn, the occurrence would be considered regurgitation. If the food is violently forced out of the mouth, perhaps with nausea beforehand or dry heaves afterwards, the occurrence is considered vomiting.

How long does it take to digest vitamin supplements in pill form?

In all actuality, tablet vitamins can take up to 4-6 hrs to breakdown in your body and only absorb at about 40% of what you put in. Tablet vitamins are full of binders and fillers and lubricants, all stuff your body does not need and most of which it can't break down and gets evacuated later. Capsule vitamins can take about 45-90 mins to break down and get absorbed about 50% and still have binders and fillers in them (including sawdust in some products). So in effect your spending a dollar and your body is only using up to 50% of the product.

The other type of vitamin out there is Liquid, they absorb alot better usually up to 80% or more.

There is a new type out there, actually been out for a quite a while called ISOTONIX, they are isotonic in nature, which means same pressure as blood, sweat and tears. This means they are passed right thru the stomach, they do not have to break down at all and they are readily absorbed w/in about 10 mins into the system from the small intestines. So you spend a $1.00 on the product and your body actually absorbs about .95 cents worth. You may pay more for a higher quality vitamin like this, but you get alot more out of it. Also keep in mind the body needs certain levels of vitamins daily too. For example, it needs 5000 IU of Vit D per day min. So when you buy a supplement that says 1000 IU and your body only absorbs 50% at best... That means you need to take 10 pills per day to get what you need. If you buy Isotonix Vit D and you take a capful, mixed with 2 oz of water, that is 5000 IU/day and your body absorbs 95% of it.

There is alot of products out there to waste your money on, be careful of what you buy!

they are called accessory organs because they are not apart of the digestive tract but have a significant role in the digestive process

Can you sleep after you eat right away?

The human body will begin to digest the food that is ingested; however, the efficiency of breaking down the food into usable energy will be considerably hindered. At rest, the burning of calories is unsubstantial; therefore, consumption of food before sleep is not recommended. Yet, there are instances when eating may have some benefit. If it is difficult to fall asleep, or a day has been stressful, foods with whole grains such as oatmeal or bread and fruits like bananas have nutrients which actually slow down the processes within the body and trigger a "bedtime" response. Also, depending on what one has eaten the night before, there may be a feeling of "heaviness" in the morning, or a lack of hunger because the body was not given adequate time for digestion. This could, essentially, have a negative reaction on one's body for the entire day, upsetting the routine schedule ratio of food consumption to rest.

What does the gallbladder for digestion?

The Gall bladder stores bile. Bile is made by the liver. Bile is essential for the proper digestion of fats. If fats are not properly digested, fat soluble vitamins are also not absorbed.

What are 2 digestive glands found outside the digestive tract?

There are far too many to mention, but would include the brain, lungs, kidneys, liver, etc.

If you are asking about organs that are related to the digestive process, then you are probably referring to the accessory organs of digestion, and there are several. The liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and salivary glands are probably the major ones, though this list could also be endless if you consider the special senses.

Why is pepsin secreted in an inactive form?

Tryspin and Pepsin are enzymes used in digestion. Their roles are to break down macromolecules into the smaller, more managable organic compounds that our body uses to build its own raw materials.

You DON'T want Trypsin or Pepsin active when they're not in the stomach/small intestine (they will literally start digesting parts of your own body), therefore they are a class of enzymes called Proteases/Proenzymes that are only activated when part of the enzyme is cut off (hydrolysis). When they are in their inactive form they are not harmful to the body and can be stored in the pancreas. In contrast, when they are needed they undergo a reaction where part of the enzyme is cut off and they become active.

Which organelle aids in the digestion and release of cellular waste?

The food materials is ingested into the cell via endocytosis which is digested by lysosomes which contains various hydrolytic enzymes. Waste materials so formed after digestion is excreted by cell by process called exocytosis.

What contributes to chemical digestion?

Enzymes contribute to chemical digestion. They are produced by the pancreas and together with bile, chemically change food into molecules so that it can be absorbed easily by the body.
