How long do Dilaudid with drawls last?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Withdrawal periods and intensity from short acting opiates like Dilaudid (hydromorphone hydrocloride) depend on individual body chemistry, dose and duration of use, as well as other factors. But if you have been using a significant dose for months or more... the acute withdrawal upon stopping cold turkey will generally last about a week, peaking somewhere around days 2-4. Following acute withdrawal will be from weeks to months of increased lethargy until your system fully normalizes. Withdrawal symptoms can be minimized if you are able to slowly taper off the drug.

Does opana Dilaudid and suboxone show up the same in a urine test?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Speaking from experience, they will not show up as the same Thing. In fact suboxone won't show up at all unless your test gets sent into a lab and your probation officer or whoever specifically requests a gc/ms for suboxone, which won't happen unless they think you've been doin subs. I take 4 mgs of sub a day and haven't failed yet and my tests getsent into a lab (no gcms). I failed for oxy when I did oxy, but never because of suboxone

Is Dilaudid stronger than Fentanyl?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Fentanyl - is a synthetic primary opioid receptor agonist. It is approximately 100 times more potent than Morphine, with 100 micrograms of fentanyl approximately equivalent to 10 mg of morphine and 75 mg of Pethidine (meperidine) in analgesic activity.

Hydromorphone, a more common synonym for dihydromorphinone and dimorphone, commonly a hydrochloride (trade names Palladone, Palladone SR, Dilaudid and numerous others) is a potent centrally-acting Analgesic Medication of the Opioid class. It is a derivative of Morphine, specifically a Hydrogenated Ketone thereof and therefore a semi-synthetic drug. It is both medically an Opioid analgesic and legally a Narcotic. It is 8 times more potent than Morphine.

Will Dilaudid 2mg im show up in urine drug test after 60 hours?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Depends on the test panels, cutoff for detection and test quality . If its injected, it will show up in the urine within a matter of hours, about 2-3 . Ingesting orally takes longer, up to 6 -7 hours and its takes about 72 hours to leave your system with single time use. Also if the test panel look for opiates (opium , heroine, morphine ,meperidine , codeine, morphine, 6-acetyl-morphine )

and standard cutoffs you will pass but if test panel detect opiates and opioids ( like hydrocodone- Loratab, hydromorphone-Dilaudid ,etc..) or test with lower cutoffs you may fail. btw it's not failing if you have a prescription.

Can you take opana er and Dilaudid together?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Here's the deal. Opana (aka: Numorphan/oxymorphone HCL (generic) is a very potent analgesic (narcotic pain killer). Even the strongest forms of hydocodone is not even close to the analgesic effects of Opana. They CAN BE taken together. The pitfall of hydrocodone (Vicodin-Lortab- ect.) is the over abundant use of acetaminophen (APAP) i.e. Tylenol. This can and will cause liver damage! The narcotic will do less harm than the Tylenol. There is a push by the FDA and other groups to cut the APAP dosage to next to nothing. With any luck, hopefully this will happen this year (2011)....

The damage to the liver can be lessened by taking Milk Thistle. Two 10mg Opana with 5 7.5 mg Norco are safe for someone used to taking pain drugs.

Even that may not create a no-pain environment.

What is the weakest to strongest painkillers?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

no one knows what is in fentanyl, but the people who own the patent. The fact is that drugs are as big as the military complex the USA has become,

The Duragesic patches work and if the makers of fentanyl (the spelling is correct) works like an opiate, it matters not to the one in pain what is in it.

I use it and it does reduce the pain a bit; however, if I found out it contained a bit of cow dung in it, I would still use it Now human excrement would make me take a new look at morphine

Which is stronger Levo-Dromoran or Dilaudid?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

LevoDromoran is stronger than hydromorphone (Dilaudud). Levorphanol is 8x as potent as morphine on a mg-mg basis whereas hydromorphone is 7.5x as potent as morphine mg-mg. Essentially they are of the same potency but levorphanol is slightly stronger.

Can Dilaudid be detected in urine samples?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes, it can tell how much is in your system and can let the tester know if your using the medication correctly. If you have to get tested monthly in order to refill your prescription, it will tell if your taking them or selling them. Same with all the narcotics being tested during an urine analysis.

What happens if you mix Dilaudid 2mg with codeine 5mg?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It depends on how much of what you take. MDMA would naturally override the effects of Codeine being the strong stimulant it is. However Codeine being an opiate depressant(downer) can be dangerous when mixed with a stimulant(upper) such as MDMA. Mixing uppers and downers is not wise as this can likely cause your heart to go into cardiac arrest. One part of your brain is telling your heart to go faster, while the other part is telling it to slow down. Be careful.

Can neurontin be used as a pain killer?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It varies with each patient - though Neurontin is normally used as a drug for neuralgia and seizures, there has been some evidence that it helps augment pain medication used by nerve pain sufferers. That's why it's often prescribed along with pain drugs. In my own personal experience, it never did anything that was effective or even noticeable.

No. Oxycontin contains Oxycodone and a few fillers, and Dilaudid contains an opiate called Hydromorphone, a more potent narcotic. But as far as both of them being opiates, that's the only similarity.

Can methadone be taken with Dilaudid?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The short answer is that, if you are under medical supervision, preferably in a hospital setting where you are being monitored, dilaudid (hydromorphone) can be taken for breakthrough pain when methadone is used as the primary analgesic (pain killer) for severe pain.

Methadone is a tricky drug to prescribe and finding the safe dosage that provides pain relief involves starting at a low dose and gradually increasing it until the patient gets relief, while monitoring the patient's vital signs and watching for the many possible side effects. The technical term for this is titration, and it is best done in a hospital setting, especially since patients in severe pain usually have other medical conditions that add to these risks.

Both dilaudid (hydromorphone) and methadone are opioid narcotics, but methodone is a more long-acting drug while hydromorphone is a more short-acting drug. Both are used for treating severe pain, but due to its short-acting nature, hydromorphone is more suited to treating breakthrough pain that occurs despite treatment with another drug.

The problem with taking hydromorphone with another opioid narcotic like methadone is that they can have a combined effect that can depress respiration to the point where medical intervention may be needed to prevent death. In a hospital setting where you can be monitored and where life support and other measures can be taken in an emergency, this is less of a concern. Outside a hospital setting, it is difficult and risky to determine the safe dosage for methadone for specific patients.

One of the difficulties in using methadone is that its effects on respiration can last long after it has stopped providing pain relief. This presents problems for the very patients that it is likely to be prescribed for - those with severe chronic pain. Taking another dose of methadone, or another opioid narcotic such as hydromorphone, when the first dose of methadone is wearing off, adds to the risk that, at some point, you may stop breathing.

A physician who specializes in pain management is best qualified to prescribe a course of treatment for severe pain, which may or may not include the use of multiple drugs. Self-prescribing narcotics, or experimenting with the dosage, can be very dangerous.

Can a urinalysis drug test differentiate between Dilaudid and loratabs?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes it can. Loritab's active narcotic ingredient is Hydrocodone and oxycodone is obviously oxycodone. It really depends on the complexity of the test. If it's a five panel urinalysis both will just show up as "opiate" positive. If it is a gas spectrum chromatography (like a pre-employment drug screen), it can tell the difference between hydrocodone, oxycodone, fentanyl, heroin, morphine, hydromorphone, etc.

hope this helps ya!
