Now called Hollywood Studios, the most frightening ride is Tower of Terror.

The Main character in the Disney movie - Up is an old man named Carl Fredricksen who is a widower. The 2nd main character is a boy named Russell who is a Wilderness Explorer (like a Boy Scout).

There are three sections to Downtown Disney (from east to west): The Marketplace, Pleasure Island, and West Side. The Marketplace has many Disney-themed shops such as Goofy's Candy Company and the World of Disney (the largest Disney store in the world). There are also several restaurants including Earl of Sandwich, Rainforest Cafe, Ghirardelli, Fulton's Crabhouse, TRex, and Cap'n Jack's. There is also a Lego store with giant Lego sculptures, water fountains for children to play in, a small outdoor theater, a carousel, and a small train for kids to ride. Next to Cap'n Jack's is a dock where boats come to transport visitors to the other areas of Downtown Disney as well as to Saratoga Springs resort and spa, Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside resorts, and Old Key West Resort. The other two areas of Downtown Disney do not have boats going to the resorts, they only make the circuit around Downtown Disney.

Pleasure island used to be full of nightlife activities including a variety of dance clubs and night clubs. More recently, they have begun to switch the clubs for more shops and restaurants, but they still have DJs and stilt walkers come out along the pathway in the evening and interact with the crowds. Some shops that are up and running are Harley Davidson, and Curl (a surf and clothing shop), as well as several restaurants such as Paradiso 37, Raglan Road, and Cooke's of Dublin.

On the West Side there are a lot of awesome forms of entertainment including a five-story indoor virtual amusement park called Disney Quest, a show by Cirque du Soleil called La Nouba, and AMC 24 theater. There are also a lot of restaurants including Bongos Cuban Cafe, Wolfgang Puck Cafe, House of Blues, and Planet Hollywood. There is also a new offering here where people can pay around $16 to be lifted high in the sky (400 feet) in Characters in Flight, a large helium balloon. The view is supposed to be amazing in the evening. There are also more shops such as the Candy Cauldron, Magnetron, galleries, and of course, more Disney merchandise.

Not TERRIBLY long; the one time I drove anywhere near there we drove through Atlanta at around midnight and had breakfast at a McDonald's a few miles from Disney World a little after sunrise the next morning, and that's factoring in a couple of restroom/refueling/driver change stops through the night.

Google maps says Atlanta to Disney World is 5 hours 59 minutes. Reduce that a bit if you're in southern Georgia, like Albany or Valdosta (Valdosta is near the Florida border and is only around 3 hours from Disney World).

The first sports movie to win any kind of Oscar was 1931's The Champ, which centers on a washed-up, down-on-his-luck boxer hoping to make a comeback. Well, Disneyland (in California) came first. The reason why he started making Disney parks was because of an experience he'd had. He was at an amusement park with his family, and while he was watching his kids on the carousel, he realized that he and Lillian weren't doing anything. The kids were the only ones having fun all over the park. He wanted a park where the whole family could have fun together. Disneyland was a smash success, so he started work on Walt Disney World in Florida so that people who couldn't go all the way to California could have fun at a Disney park. Unfortunately, he died before it (which only consisted of Magic Kingdom at the time) opened October 1, 1971.

The Dodo represents Lewis Carroll. Because of his stammer, he would pronounce his real name do-do-dodgson.

The Dodo, the Duck, the Lory and the Eaglet all represent the original group who went on the rowing trip where Carroll first told the Alice story.

The Duck is Robinson Duckworth, a friend of Carroll's, and the Lory and the Eaglet represent Lorina and Edith, Alice's sisters.

'The other curious creatures' were probably Carroll's sisters, Fanny and Elizabeth, and his Aunt Lucy Lutwidge.

A few weeks before the famous rowing trip, these seven people, plus Alice Liddell of course, had been on another outing during which it rained very heavily and everybody got soaked. They were forced to dry off at a friend's house.

This episode was referred to in the original Alice story, but was edited out of the final published book, as it was thought the incident would not be interesting to anyone who wasn't there.

Years later Carroll sent Duckworth a copy of his book with an inscription, 'To the Duck from the Dodo'.

He as inspired while at a generic amusement park with his two daughters, while there where things for them to do, there was very little for the parents to with their children. He thought he could do something better.
