How much is to walk a Maltese puppy?
Every four hours for pee breaks for five minutes, plus say a fifteen minute walk once a day around the block for the first few months. You need to be patient, they have very little legs. ^^
When older, a half hour walk twice a day is good. (plus pee breaks)
Milkweed is toxic but I don't know of any dogs that were interested in eating it.
Is a little bit of chocolate deadly for a dog?
It depends on the type of chocolate and the weight of the dog. The smaller the dog, the worse the reaction. The higher amount of cocoa, the worse the reaction. So, a 5 pound dog getting into a small amount of baking chocolate could be deadly and a 50 pound dog getting into some hershey kisses could produce nothing more than diarrhea. If your animal gets into chocolate, contact a local vet or the ASPCA. only a small bite of chocolate will not kill a dog but large sums of choclate can hurt your dog so watch out
Is it better to get 2 dogs or puppies than 1 to help with separation anxiety?
If your existing dog already has separation anxiety, it MAY help to get another dog. See if you can borrow a neighbor's dog to come over for the day and see how your dog reacts. YOu can also try doggy daycare. However, with most dogs it doesn't seem to help that much. In addition, if your first dog is not trained, you now have 2 dogs to worry about. I would not recommend purchasing a second dog simply because your first dog has separation anxiety.
If you considering purchasing 2 puppies/dogs at the same time I would also be very careful. Despite having to do twice the training, 2 puppies often bond a lot to each other. This sounds like a good thing in that they are less likely to have separation anxiety when you leave, however they often bond so much with each other that they have bad anxiety when they are separated. If you do decide to get 2 puppies at the same time, then make sure you separate them a lot so their bond is primarily to you and not each other.
Definitely not. You need to take the dog to a vet immediately if he/she is limping.
#animalabuse...likeareyoustupid?
xoxo brianna cox for the winnn<333
Yes they can but they will definitely let you know it is discomforting. Check for swelling against the good leg and compare. Any sign of swelling is a good indication somethings broken-or sprained. A vet will be able to do x-rays to tell the difference..
#animalabuse...like are you stupid? I think your stupid-quick to cry abuse and put someone down when all they was doing was asking for advise. How dare you hide behind a keyboard and talk your crap !
Why does my dog poo in the house when he hasn't before?
The first major cause would be a urinary tract infection - this can be confirmed or ruled out with a simple urinalysis at a veterinary clinic. At the same time, the vet can look for evidence of bladder stones and some types of bladder cancer. If there is no obvious medical reason, I would start asking about recent changes in the household - did a relative move in (such as a new baby or an elderly relative) or move out (such as a child moving to college)? Is there a great deal of stress in the house? Has the dog's routine been disrupted?
Sometimes dogs will urinate inappropriately as a way of acting out or relieving stress, although medical reasons are more likely.
What is pancreatitis in a dog?
Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas caused by leakage of active digestive enzymes into the pancreatic tissue. This causes various clinical signs but most pets affected by acute pancreatitis have abdominal pain, depression and decreased appetite or lack of appetite. Vomiting and diarrhea occur in many dogs with pancreatitis. In severe cases of pancreatitis there may be signs of shock or total collapse. Chronic pancreatitis in dogs may occur, with similar but less severe symptoms. The signs of acute pancreatitis similar to those seen in dogs are not as common in cats and probably account for less than 25% of the cases of pancreatitis among felines. Cats are more likely to have chronic pancreatitis, characterized by a decrease in appetite, lethargy, loss of weight, chronic vomiting and low body temperatures.
For dogs there are two cornerstones to treatment for pancreatitis, control pain and control fluid and electrolyte disturbances. If these two things can be accomplished the prognosis for living through the pancreatitis improves a great deal.
if it is a chew toy then they will but if they are stressed out they will chew on any type of furniture, so you should talk to your vet if your dog is well trained and is chewing on things that he/she shouldn't be.
What does it mean when a dog stands on another dog's back?
My best guess it to establish dominance. I had never seen it before we got our German shepherd/black lab puppy and she does it to our larger female shepherd mix, as well as me and my children. She hasn't tried it with my husband and has already established herself as the Alpha-female, even though she's half the size of our other dog. That's our only guess, it makes the most sense, as she is a very dominant-type dog.
What does it mean when your dog puts her mouth over your other dogs mouth?
This is play. My dogs do it all the time. It could also be a show of dominance.
How do I make my 7 year old Labrador Retreiver not to be afraid of water?

What can you get if you get scratched by a dog?
Well it depends on what scratched it and where did it get scratched at. If it is a big dog it is most likely that it will not hurt, and a little dog (any breed) it may hurt, but like I said it matters where and what scratched the animal. If it is a big scratch, you should take it to the vet. Also if it is bleeding.
I hope this helps you and your dog!
Why wont your puppy stop whining?
If your dog is whimpering, this usually means that he/she is sad or in serious pain. Sometimes a dog will whimper because they are unhappy with a situation. You can often stop them from whimpering by calming them with reassuring tones. For example; a dog might not like to be in a crate and will whimper when put there. If you tell the dog is alright and calm them they can learn to relax and will hopefully stop whimpering.
Why won't my dog kiss me on the face?
I don't know the answer to this question but my dog has a preference of who she kissed. She will only kiss me, my sister, my brother in law, and my boyfriend.. She will not kiss my dad and he's technically the one she obeys the most. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it but I do notice she picks and chooses the people she shows her affection too.
What are dogs saying when they bark?
It can depend. Sometimes they are saying, "Give me more attention and love!" Sometimes they are saying, "Let me out I need to use the bathroom!" and maybe saying that they are hungry or thirsty.
Can your child get sick from dog?
Not unless the puppy is very very sick and even then, most diseases a puppy can get are not transferable to humans. Canine to human pathogens are rare. The benefits of a puppy /child relationship far outweigh the dangers of the child ever getting sick from interacting with a puppy.
Is it true that dogs react to a woman's menstrual cycle?
No, that is an old-wive's tale. Not true at all.
What does biting the hand that feeds you mean?
It is an expression for betraying someone who helped you.
So for example, if you get promoted because of the help of a friend at work, and you find a way to get that friend fired after your promotion, that would be called biting the hand that feeds you.
A common phrase and used quite often. It originates from owning an animal such as a dog. It means not to offend the person who is responsible for your livelihood such as your boss or an important customer. Here's an example, If you bitterly complain about your boss you're just biting the hand that feeds you.
Don't hurt anyone that helps you.
How to make my dog stop growling at me?
First, this is not funny and putting the dog in another room will not solve the problem. A dog will often bark at the TV out of fear or anxiety. There are a couple of ways to handle this issue. One is to teach your dog to bark on command. This helps them to understand when it's okay to bark and when it isn't. The second method is to keep some treats on hand. Something very special that they don't get any other time, like boiled chicken. Keep the pieces very small. When your dog barks at the TV, call him/her to you. When they are quiet for a few seconds, praise them and give them a treat. Soon the dog will learn that it's far better to come and sit quietly by you than to bark at the TV.
Will dogs miss their owners before they die?
