Do dogs cry when they are in pain?
I have a nine year old female (spayed) Shih Tzu that has been crying and whining straight for the last 24 hours. I took her to the vet today, and she could not see anything other than tenderness of her abdomen as a cause. She was given an NSAID pain shot and medication to calm her stomach.... but she is still really sad and whining off and on and I have no idea what to do to help her.
she is eating normally and doesn't seem to have any other issues?

Yes. In countries where rabies is endemic, dogs should be vaccinated to prevent infection, which exposes humans to rabies infection. In countries where rabies is absent, various laws may apply, but usually imported dogs must have evidence of rabies vaccination prior to being allowed in.
Are plastic dog toys bad for small dogs if they chew them up and happen to swallow a piece?
Most dog chew toys are meant to have small parts ingested without any problem. If your dog actually swallowed the entire thing, I would see a vet immediately because it could cause intestinal blockage that might require emergency surgery.

Wisdom is not something usually associated with dogs. Though the most intelligent are thought to be Border Collies and retrievers.
Can your dog be taken if they bite the vet?
Dogs threaten to bite vets all the time- vets are used to having sick and injured dogs snap at them- if they get bitten, they surely do not blame the dog or its owner.
Mostly dogs try to get rid of teeth, so they chew on hard stuff to make their teeth wiggley, just like people.
Should you get a kitten when you already have an old dog?
Yes, there's nothing wrong with that. The dog will probably enjoy having the kitten around for company and companionship.
Why does a dog stand right in front of you and bark?
Your dog is trying to indicate that he is hungry or need to go outside. Other reasons that your dog is acting that way might be because he/she is anxious and needs to be walked around. Also, sometimes when male dogs have mosqitoe bits on the scrodem they bark so that blood rushed down to the affected area and relieves the itching/burning for a short while. Because the blood gets rushed down to their genitalia area they become erect (and hard as a rock)

Why do dogs scratch up carpeting?
There are many reasons: * Sometimes dogs play and will whip back their back feet in a comical fashion which means they are happy, content and ready to play.
* They may be trying to make a bed, so it's to your advantage (if you don't have one) to get a dog bed. I get mine at Costco (I believe that's an American Company) as they are much cheaper. They have small ones and very large ones. The covers come off and can be washed.
What do you do when you dog bites your nose?
It is very possible for a dog to break its nose as many people do not believe.
However, I believe dogs cannot feel pain if their nose is broken. I have had experience with this event and they show absolutely no sign of pain. :)

Why do dogs urinate on humans?
It's a myth. Dogs (especially males) will urinate on fire hydrants, poles, doorways (anywhere another male has urinated) because dogs need to mark their territory and one dog letting another know where they have been.
This just happened to my dog over the weekend. She threw up a few times in two days and wouldn't eat anything for over 24 hours. She was drinking a little water but nothing else. She was shivering and did not want to go outside or go for walks. It was extremely difficult to even get her to walk into a different room of my house.
I read a bunch of articles online and ended up getting chicken broth with low sodium and feeding her small pieces of meat, just to get something in her system. She drank the broth and ate the meat, although somewhat hesitantly. I read that the shivering was due to her blood sugar dropping due to her being without food for such a long time. As soon as I fed her some small pieces of turkey breast (sliced deli meat), she stopped shivering.
Gradually, over the next two days, I fed her a little more meat and more chicken broth, and she slowly got her energy back. Yesterday, I left a little bit of her regular food out when I went to work, and she had eaten it when I returned. This morning, she was almost back to her normal self and was barking and had much more energy on our walk.
I am not anti-vet, but my dog hates going to the vet/groomer/etc, and the last time she was vomiting & had diarrhea, I spent $500 at the vet, only to have him give her special canned dog food and doing the same thing I did this time (feeding small meals and giving small amounts of liquid).
How intelligent is the Poodle dog?
Poodles (Toy, Miniature, Standard Poodles) are very, very, "highly" intelligent. They are very quick to train. They thrive on pleasing their masters, and make excellent companions and pets. They are smarter than a bulldog.
This depends on the breeding, as well as socialization of the dog. In general poodles are known to be very smart and were used for hunting and other sporting activities. They take training as any other dog would. Most of the time it is not so much that the dog is dumb but rather the own that does not know how to train and teach the dog. From a personal view I have owned 4 poodles and never had a "dumb" one in the bunch. I have owned Standard Poodles that I have shown in AKC events. I have had tiny toys and toys also. So from a personal view I would have to say that they are very intelligent for the most part. Again go to a reliable breeder, be sure to see and spend time with parents of puppy. Find a class or read some books on how to train your dog. It is always best to start a basic training class as early as you can.
toy poodles are generally very easy to train. They care a lot about pleasing their masters and are very cute.
