What happens when female mom and son dog mate?
Yes, but that's incest, sicko.
Animals don't understand the concept of incest, but it may bring out unwanted recessive traits, and should be discouraged.
Currently I have been looking after a pom. I have dog cat allergies I have had the pom for a week now and was a badly affected when I got him but I am now starting to come through and my body not notice him being around. I have read many things saying that they are not good for allergies others say they are. With allergies it is all down to what affects u it could be saliva or their dander all dogs have dander and poms are said to release less dander. however they can shed alot of hair but this generally gets trapped in there under coat and will need brushing out so doesn't matt. My suggestion if u are thinking of getting a pom or any dog is to visit a breeder spend time with this breed you will soon know. However that been said for most people it takes a month to get used to the dog my brother was very by but after a month was fine with his do which is a collie. After looking after this pom I am thinking of keeping him so they can't be that bad as I used to really suffer. Unfortunately with allergies it is specific to the individual and the dog. I have found I am also ok with cockapoodle, poodles and chitzus. I have I find it's dogs which have less dander regardless of how much hair they shed. Hope this has helped alittle. But I couldn't confirm u will be ok with a pom. They are however dogs with slot of character.

If you have another dog he will try to mark his or her before the other, it you house is dusty it smells like outside dirt and they smell it and they mark as close as they can by were they smell it
Beagles are highly trainable, but are also easily distracted. If you are considering a beagle as a pet know that they will follow their nose. If they pick up a scent the tend to follow it and ignore anything else. They can also be stubborn, but respond well to food-based, positive reward training. As with all dogs, they just need patience. You would do best to keep training sessions short and lively as they do tend to lose interest quickly.
Why do bloodhounds smell brtter then other dogs?
there skin if a huge factor the ears bring the sent to the nose the spit makes the scent more extreme and the face skin covers the eyes so the other senses are better
How old should your pit bull be before you breed her?
For most breeds it is 7-9 months of age. Depends on the dog, not the breed, (in my experience.) If you plan on breeding her, wait for the second heat. If you plan on having her fixed, contact your vet as to when would be a good time.
Some dogs eat dirt because their bodies tell them to. This can be because of a mineral deficiency (not just iron) that is somehow improved by consuming dirt off the ground. Unless the dirt is contaminated by something harmful to the animal, this practice of eating dirt may actually be good for them.
If this is the reason your dog is eating dirt, it may be remedied by giving them the missing nutrients as supplements. There are a variety of vitamins and minerals available at pet stores that may replace the dirt as a means of getting what the dog's body needs. Look for natural WHOLE food sources.
What if your dog will only eat wet dog food?
Mix in some yogurt, ham or left overs.
When one of my dogs stopped eating his dry food, I started adding a little water or chicken broth to it and microwaving it for 20 seconds. He devoured it. Sometimes dogs just get bored with what they're eating.
How do you stop your puppy from eating random things?
Dogs are usually quick learners especially when they are young. If you associate its eating rocks with something the dog doesn't like than it will not want to eat rocks. So any time you catch it eating a rock sternly tell it no. If it doesn't listen punish it however you see fit. Then when the dog does listen reward it.

When a dog is about to give birth how does she behave?
Dogs, like women, can vary a lot in their behavior just before delivery. In general, labs and most dogs will stop eating about 12-24 hours before delivery. However, I have seen a few dogs who actually suddenly started eating almost immediately before giving birth.
They also tend to act restless, pacing, walking around, building a nest -- or trying to move their nest to another spot if they decide they aren't happy with the location. Also, if you are taking their temperature twice daily, at approximately the same times each day, you will find her temperature drops about a degree or a little more than that, and she usually gives birth within 12 hours of the initial temperature drop. Sometimes it is hard to see the drop; it can be very slight or it can drop and go back up to normal, or if you take her temperature at the "wrong" time of day, it could drop in between your checks, and so instead of the pups coming within twelve hours, they may come an hour later.
the normal gestation is 63 days, and dogs are generally pretty close in timing, however, the pups could be born a week or so before or after the 63rd day -- it is not possible usually to know exactly the day of conception, so you are just "guesstimating" on the 63 days. you want to make sure she has a comfortable, safe place to have her pups, a few weeks before birth at least, and make sure it is out of the way -- too much traffic and other animals will cause mom to be very nervous and could even cause her to hurt her pups (usually accidentally== jumping up at every noise and then accidentally lying down on one of the pups).
How do you get a dog to not follow you all around the house and act like a fool when you are gone?
It depends on how old the dog is. If it is young it is very easy to mold it's mind, if it is old, it will be very difficult as it is already set in its ways. A good way to do it is to say their name before the command, and say it firmly. Dont yell at them, or sound angry, but say it like you mean business. If they do it, offer them a treat, or give them a lot of quick, positive attention. Repeat this as often as possible so that they know what to do when you say that specific command. If they don't follow, you can just repeat the command. If they're doing something bad and you catch them in the act, you can take a small spray bottle and give them a little squirt and say bad *name* or bad dog, once again, not angrily, but firmly. They don't like this, so they learn from their actions. Trust me, this is way better than punishing them by putting them in their kennel or box, and hitting is never the answer, that will just make a mean dog.
2nd Answer:
Take your dog to a local Dog Obedience class so you both can learn. Purchase a 6 foot leather lead along with a choke chain. Measure around your dog's neck and add 2 inches to get the correct size of the choke chain. Check with your Veterinarian or local Animal Shelter or nearest feed store or local newspaper for the nearest dog obedience class. This will help you and your dog immensely. Using your lead with your choke chain is what gets their attention and makes them mind but you need someone to show you all of this and be with other dogs to help socialize him or her.
Is it better to have two dogs than one?
sometimes. it is okay when there is a male and a female so they will mate and have puppies, but, it is not if you have a male and a male because sometimes they will have a dogfight (sometimes, females fight male dogs)
How do you stop puppies from eating poop?
Coprophagia is the act of eating feces (poop). Dogs may eat their own poop, the poop of other dogs, or the poop of other animals, such as poop in a litter box. They may do it because they were raised in dirty conditions, such as a puppy mill, because they were removed from their mother too soon, because they are missing nutrients or ill, or simply because they like to.
First rule out a medical cause. If your dog is not receiving proper nutrition he can start eating poop to try to meet any deficiency. A disease called Endocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) can cause a dog to not metabolize his food properly, even if you feed a high quality diet. If your dog is a German Shepherd and the poop he makes is of an unusual texture, color, or is diarhea, and if he has difficulty keeping weight on, suspect EPI and get a vet evaluation. There may be other diseases that cause a dog to eat poop, so regardless of whether you suspect EPI, discuss this problem with your vet to rule out a medical cause.
If it is a bad habit, with no medical cause, you must start first with prevention. There are food additives you can put in the food of the dog whose poop is being eaten. It does not work by feeding it to the dog that eats the poop unless he only eats his own poop. So if you have multiple dogs, you will probably have to treat all of them. One such product is "Forbid," which is available at most pet stores. Your vet may have other products to recommend.
When you take your dog out to toilet, watch closely. If he goes for his poop, so "No!" sharply (or "leave it"). Hold the leash so that he can't quite reach the poop no matter how he tries. When he stops trying, praise and reward, then immediately scoop the poop up. This is a tough issue to fix, so be determined. It may take a few months, but it can be done.
What does it mean when your dog licks you and chatters his teeth?
it may be hungry, its playing or its teething. if its a puppy most likely its teething.
When a dogs ear is hot does that mean they have a fever?
When running a fever, the dog's core body temperature becomes elevated. The easiest place to feel this, however, is on the ears rather than the forehead. If you suspect your dog is running a fever, you should take him to your veterinarian for an exam.
Why does your dog pee on the floor after you leave home?
This usually happens to an already house trained dog out of separation anxiety when you leave. Find a book on dog training that includes a section on separation anxiety for the best advice.
It could be that you are leaving them alone too long and they just can't hold it. The younger and older dogs may have this problem more often since they do not have full bladder control.
It might be to mark the territory, it may feel like it is in charge when you are gone and it wants to let everyone know that the house belongs to it.
It will not be to "punish" you for leaving, they don't do naughty things in revenge.
They may need a house training refresher course with diligent attention to their bladder habits for a period. This may be needed due to a new scary thing or sound or other change in their environment that is unsettling to them and their routine.
There may have been thunder, a car backfire, fireworks or other loud sounds that scared them while you were gone. It may not have been a problem for them if you had been home to reassure them, but on their own it was just too much to handle. There are special coats for them that really help with this. One brand is called Thunder Shirts.
It may be that they need a medical check up to be sure there is no injury, infection or other medical condition that is causing it.
How do you stop your gerbil from tipping over his food bowl?
If the bowl is heavy, your gerbil should find it difficult to tip it over. I suggest a china bowl. If this doesn't stop him, try gluing the bowl to the floor.
We tend to just feed our gerbils (mind you we own over 40 gerbils and own many champion gerbils) on the ground. The food will get buried, but it lets the gerbils forage for there food and therefore simulates a natural habitate.
My way might be a bit expensive but it works. I have a plastic cage from pets at home and it has a special hole at the top of the cage. The food bowl slots into it and it therefore impossible for it to get tipped over.
Dog drinks copious amounts of water and throws it back up?
What kind of dog do you have? It could be that your dog doesn't know when he/she is full and will continue this until he/she dies. Try leaving ONE bowl of water at every meal. Do NOT put out any more unless you came back from a walk/run/whatever you do. Even then, only fill the bowl, at the most, three times. A specific type of dog has that flaw within their genes. They can't tell when they are full, so they will eat/drink themselves to death. Be careful.
Why do dogs snap when you blow air in their face?
For the same reason you hate people blowing in your face. It is annoying and unhygenic
Does the papillion dog bark a lot?
My papillon barks hardly at all, but it does depend on the dog. These dogs do tend to make fair guard dogs for apartment living because they can be protective of their owners and they do let you know when there is someone at the door. I would not condiser them very yappy dogs though.
Is it bad if your dog licks your cut?
The answer is maybe you can.
Because the cut is infected if you touch it you might get infected too.
But if you touch it clean the infected cut then that's ok as long you disinfect your hands after.
So you maybe can or cannot catch any thing from a dog licking a cut.
Depending on how infected it is.
How big it is.
best you get your dog to a vet.
What should you be looking for before birth of pups?
First thing I look for is the breeding environment. Are the animals being socialized with humans? Is the pen area clean and do the pups seem healthy? Then, if I'm going to choose a pup, I generally choose the runt of the litter. Why? Because they seem to be the most loyal, simply because you've rescued them from a situation where they might not survive (that's not as much as an issue now days, but the runts do seem to be more greatful and loving). If that doesn't matter, then I'd let the pup choose you. My last one kept coming up and poking me in the foot with his nose while the others didn't seem to even recognize I was there. Narurally, I picked that pup and never regretted one second of having him. (Unfortunately, he just passed away from lymphoma (cancer) just before he reached 8 years old.) Just remember, you're making a commitment to the pup and he'she will make one to you, too. It's for life, folks, so treat 'em like they're part of the family and you'll be rewarded in more ways than I can mention.
Treat it like a human baby. If it cries, try food, water, sleep, warmth, or possibly it might be fighting sleep.
