poDogs don't "sleep". They'll just nap... That's why it's easy to wake a "sleeping dog". And if they don't literally sleep, they can keep their eyes open while "sleeping"
It's actually normal for a dog to be sleeping with its eyes open, that means it's had a long day, or it's not sleeping, just staring at something.
None if they are healthy. Food goes in and waste products come out. That is what you would want to see in a healthy pup. The better brand of dog food you feed, the smaller the actual poops will be, so feed your pup a good name brand of dog food, such as Natural Choice Puppy food or Innova food. The cheaper brands of dog good are not good for the pup and they will have much larger poops.
She should be spayed at least one month after she comes out of heat, and at least one month before she is expected to come back into heat. That typically leaves a three month window of opportunity.
The amount you feed will vary from brand to brand, because some brands are more nutritionally dense than others. All brands will have feeding guidelines on the package based on age and activity levels.
Your puppy should receive the best quality puppy food you can afford for it's first full year.
because of hunters and poacher's they hunt them for there pelt
All puppies are born deaf, their ear canals are not open. The canals start to open at about 10 days old. As soon as the canals are open a puppies hearing is very accurate.
you should always feed your dog once a day with a few dog treats here and there. If you feed them more than once with lots of snacks theres a better chance of him/her dying.
2nd Answer: You should feed your dog twice a day with NO snacks inbetween meals as this will make your dog fat and possibly a picky eater. Save the snacks for training your dog such as housebreaking or obedience.
keep the pups as warm as possible by keeping them in a warm place and providing blankets.
as far as i know, you can go to the pet store and see if they sell puppy formula. if they don't than I'm sorry but that's the only way i know how to feed pups that small.
you really ought to seek advice from your Vet because you will need to feed a Puppy Formula every two hours during the day and night about 2 ounces every hour. and you will need to be shown how to make the puppy defaecate and urinate after every meal just as the mother would do. To do this you need to have a soft damp cloth and lightly stroke the private parts with it, simulating the mother's tongue. As the get older they feed less often and by 3 weeks can start to have some solid food as well.
If your dog is underweight, it is best to put him on a meat-based diet. Here are some suggestions to whet your pet's appetite:
* Sautéed chicken liver in butter * Canned chicken chunks * Boiled or grilled hamburger * Hard-boiled eggs * Eggs lightly scrambled in butter * Meat-based baby food * Macaroni and cheese with minced beef or sausage
As always, consult your vet first before proceeding with a weight-gain diet. Your vet will know whether or not your pet should gain weight; it might not be underweight in the first place.
It just means that they are happy, it's like if you don't cry. Dogs just have regular feelings like humans.
It's a disgusting job and if it's not that common in your dog get your vet to do it. A person really needs to know how to express anal glands so as not to hurt the dog. I have to take my Bichon Frise X to our vet every month. Costly, but she does a better job than I can.
The main problem is when a dog chews on a chicken bone is that the fragments will splinter in their throat. It is better that they swallow it whole, most Labradors are capable of passing it through their digestive system with minimal difficulty. In rare cases it will cause a blockage.
Above all else, try to keep things like chicken bones, grapes, chocolate, avocado, etc away from you Lab.
NEVER give dogs cooked bones!
Most vets frown on feeding dogs any kind of bone - but many include rawhide and plastic bones too. The problem is caused by pieces breaking off and getting lodged in the digestive tract. My vet says a dog can have problems with Kong's too!
Pork has been known to carry diseases not found in other food animals, which is why it must be cooked properly for human consumption - dogs may or may not be immune. Personally, I would avoid feeding pork bones, and go for a nice big beef knuckle bone instead.
I have fed my dogs RAW chicken bones and beef bones, but I fed chicken wings and necks, or beef knuckle bones. I always avoided any bones that can break into sharp slivers, like leg bones. I followed the rules set out by the BARF diet - Bones And Raw Foods - and found a vet who helped me do it right.
Yes, some will, some won't.
Do NOT use anti-bacterial dishwashing liquid, it will kill the microbes that benefit growing.
Be sure and read the important note below before trying any of these methods. If your dog is experiencing constipation on a regular basis you should add roughage to his diet such as canned pumpkin (not pie filling kind) or Metamucil. A spoon full of pumpkin on the dog's food should keep his bowels hydrated and his feces soft enough to pass.
A spoon of mineral oil on his food can also be used but should not be used all the time.
There are two methods I use for young puppies, which may work on your dog. I first try lubricating a rectal thermometer and take the puppies temperature. This frequently stimulates the puppy into going. If this fails and you have a nasal bulb syringe (aspirator), you can put warm water in it and gently squeeze a small amount into the rectum and see if this doesn't help.
You can use a children's glycerin suppository depending on the size of your dog but the other methods are what I recommend you try first.
Yes
Another answer:You can, but you really shouldn't. Sometimes mother dogs will reject puppies if people handle them too early to suit her. Unless she's had puppies before and you know how she'll react, it would be better to wait until they're at least a week old to touch them.
Oh, god, you're not going to try and do this at home, are you. That sounds like a recipe for disaster. Save the poor dog from potential pain and infection. Take your dog to the vet or at least to someone like an experienced breeder who has done this many times. Don't experiment on your poor puppy. :) Please.
The same as any other dog; $20-$35 each, at the vet.
You can purchase most vaccines except rabies on-line or at a feed store for $4-$11, which may or may not include the syringes, and of course, you'll need to learn to give them yourself, which is fairly easy to learn.
However, rabies shots can only be given legally by a licensed vet, so you will have to go to the vet for that, or, you might be able to find a rabies clinic near you, were shots are administered(usually held annually by your local animal shelter/SPCA) for $15.
Remember that your dog only needs a 3years rabies shot, not annual boosters, and Distemper usually lasts longer then it is said.
Lyme shots, although you may have them done to your dog, are not necessary.
Do it once, perhaps; it will cover your dog for 3-5years.
It is for one of two reasons. 1: They are board. 2: They are missing some of the nutrients that they need to live. If that is the case, you should give it a piece (or two) of a banana every (or every second) day.
Hope this helps. ~@~ =P
If the mother is not still nursing, than soak puppy food in warm water mash up with fork, the amount depends on if its a small or big puppy. If small 1/4 cup 4 to 5 times a day.If large puppy try 1/2 cup 4 to 5 times a day.
some dogs smell others dont it sometimes depends on the food you give it.
Some dogs do some dogs dont so u should really wash them every 3 weeks-ish.
