How do you drywall round corners?
The best way to drywall a curved or radius corner is to wet the drywall. If possible lay the drywall over a form that matches the radius to be covered. use a garden sprayer or watering can an wet the drywall. It will bend to match the form before your eyes. Let it dry out. It will stay in that shape and will easily be applied to the curve.
Tighter radii may require using a thinner drywall like 1/4". Use the same method, but apply two layers if the rest of the job is 1/2" drywall

From my experience, I'd say apply a few extra coats of primer, letting it dry between coats. Eventually, the primer will fill in the differences in the patch and dry wall, giving you the appearance you want. You may want to prime the entire wall after the primer coats and then repaint. To be sure, paint the area just around the patch and some dry wall with the room color to see if it's hidden. If it is, finish the rest.
How do you tape and float drywall?
Well here's my entirely too short explanation while my wife is in the shower and I'm goofing around killing time.
Apply a thin layer (1/8-1/4"thick) of all purpose joint compound (you will want to use reg. or medium for taping, not lightweight!) to your sheetrock joint. Immediately while mud is still nice and wet apply a peice of joint tape centered over the joint. (the paper is a little more difficult to learn to use, but it will give you a stronger joint than the mesh) After you put the tape on top of the mud "drag" a 6" taping knife at 45 degree angle down the joint on top of the tape. You want enough pressure to embed the tape and squeeze out most of the mud underneath the tape, but not so much pressure that there is no mud left under the tape. (that is the tape part of "tape and float") If your just starting out after you have the joint taped it would be better to wait until that has dried and you can then come back with a 10 or 12 inch float to apply another layer of medium or lightweight mud over your taped joint.
Taping and floating is not really something you can learn to do by reading. If you could see someone do it for just a few minutes it would probably advance you several hours of reading and a few days of trial and error. If you have alot to do try to hire a pro for one day and watch him.
If you don't have alot to do try to find a job sit where they are taping and floating and go watch them a few minutes.
