Earaches (Otalgia)

The air inside your inner ear has to be the same pressure as the cabin air... When the plane is going up, the cabin air pressure is dropping. The higher pressure air inside your inner ear leaks out thru your eustachian tube. It is easy for the air inside the inner ear to leak out, however, when the plane is coming back down, the cabin pressure is higher than the pressure in your inner ear... that higher external pressure presses against the soft tissues in your head and makes it harder for the air to flow back thru the eustachian tube into your inner ears. The long exposure to the dry cabin air also contributes to the problem. The easiest remedy is to bring gum. Chew the gum the entire time the plane is descending. This works your jaw and the tissues around your eustachian tube to work the air back into your inner ear. Also- drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.

I believe sinus infections aren't usually bacterial, in which case antibiotics are useless, and not only usless--by taking them you are raising your tolerance to them and speading MRSA, raising other people's tolerance, and assisting in causing worlwide antibiotic resistance, which s a horrible thing--HOWEVER, once the infection has developed it can become bacterial, which has happened to me, and i find that you would start feeling better within a few days to a week. but also beware, these infections tend to return!

A well maintained ski should last forever. That means keeping it dry, waxed, not allowing the edges to rust, etc. However, just because a ski lasts forever doesn't mean you should continue to ski on it forever. Ski construction continues to advance, and skis from 20 years ago, while still usable, are techically inferior. Much like a car from the 1950s will still work and indeed has some charm, old skis will work fine. However, you will be missing out on the technological advances in the past including differently shaped skis, vibration dampening technology, materials tech making the skis lighter and stronger, etc.

Many cases of earaches result from congestion. A decongestant can help. If that has no effect, you may need to see a medical professional.

Take her to the Vet! She needs some ear drops and the vet will tell you how much to put in and when. Also, the 'black stuff' is part of it, just clean it out with a tissue or some swabs (don't shove it down the dog's ear though! You could cause some serious injury!)
