Are there any new medications for epilepsy that are better than Epival?
Epilepsy is a broad ranging condition with various causes and various treatments. Because of this diversity it cannot be really said that any one drug is better or worse than another. What works very well for one person may not work well for others. It is also quite common for people with epilepsy to be taking a combination of medications. So your question cannot really be answered definitively.

Where in the brain does epilepsy come from and what happens if its removed?
The corpus callosum is what triggers the epilepsy, it allows information to be shared between the two hemispheres. This part of the brain is also what brings the two sides of the brain together. the corpus callosum has been very important in psychological studies. People with epilepsy have had this removed which made it so there brain was "divided". They feel like they are living in two different bodys. The left hemisphere is what "talks" and the right one helps them express. For example, if they look at a screen with two words the word clap on the left and laugh on the right) and they are asked what the screen says, they would say "clap" but they would laugh while saying it. They wont know why they laughed they will make an excuse like "you guys are funny" or something.
Another example is if they see a picture of a woman on the phone, and are asked what they see, they will say woman. But they cant expres what they are doing. But they are able to write it down with their left hand as, "woman talking on the phone." Since the right side of the brain (the expressive side) controls the left hand, therefore they are able to express what she is doing, she just cant say it out loud.
Unless they ask you directly, you don't have to tell them. And if they do ask you, they can't choose not to hire you because of your epilepsy. After you are hired, it is probably a good idea to tell them for safety reasons.
I disagree! For your safety and those around you, tell them! Should they choose to fire you, sue them for discrimination. A few restrictions could apply ( for safety) but I would not call epilepsy a disability to the point of not being able to work. I have epilepsy, for 22 years, and still working!
When you are applying for employment in Canada (at least in the teaching profession) you have to inform them about your epilepsy. It is a health and safety issue. I have epilepsy (for 38 years now) and found that honesty is the best policy. Once the issue is out in the open many people are interested in the topic and ask you questions about it. Just be prepared to reassure employers and coworkers that it does not affect your work performance.

Can a person having petit mal drive?
This is a question that should be addressed to a doctor who knows the individual involved and knows their case history and other important facts, like how often they have their seizures. In general, anyone who has any form of epilepsy is taking a risk when driving. A momentary lapse in concentration for an ordinary driver can result in an accident. Someone having epilepsy, even if they are very minor petit-mal seizures, is potentially putting their life and the lives of other people in danger.
I'm not a professional and I don't know if this would help or not, but have you tried putting something the child doesn't like the taste of on his arms and hands? I would however recommend that you ask his pediatrician or another person experienced in treating children with CP. I am 15 and have cerebral palsy. I used to bite myself when I became frustrated aged about 6-8 yrs. However, I grew out of it when I had a better understanding of my limitations but also realised how I could overcome my difficulties by adapting the way I tackled activies. Obviously this depends on age and mobility but I am affected in my legs - I can't walk and had trouble with coordination and fine motor skills when I was younger about the same age it started. Hope this helps.
